I keep seeing these statistics about the 90% and so on but when I see a gun related article(on my home page admittedly). I see all pro gun comments. I know the AP is bias and that they are just pushing their agenda but how/why are they getting away with this blatant misrepresentation of the American state of mind at this moment? I don't know if I am in the majority in my thoughts but looking in the comment section of these articles I think they are way off base in claiming the majority of Americans think the way that they are saying. I see the articles demonizing gun owners and the NRA and then I see the comments....I just don't understand what they are thinking. I don't know if the comments on AP articles give a good gauge of the American attitude of gun laws but it seems to indicate the opposite of every thing they are saying. Do they not see this?

It's Yahoo, who cares.  More importantly, why did you wait so long for your first post and why this?

Why did you wait so long for your first post?

This is my second account, lost the first password. Old user name: chuckwv. Though this would still make my total post count less than 10 since 2008. I don't post much. I read quite a lot.

Why this?

It was just something I was curious about and I thought I would ask. I thought maybe someone smarter or with a better grasp of the mindset of these "reporters" could explain it to me.

I suspect that these "reporters" truly believe what they are writing given the frequency and ferocity of these articles. Maybe they are surrounded by people with the same ideas as themselves and don't know that they are not in the majority of Americans as they believe. I read these stories and want to puke about half way through and go down to the comment section and exactly what I was thinking is what large numbers of people are commenting on. Which is the opposite of what the article is saying. So, I guess I was just looking for some opinion's on if/why/how these people believe they have the numbers given the response I see.

They got that number by oversampling Democrats and asking poll respondents "Do you want kids to be murdered?"  If you said no, then you're pro-gun controll and count toward the 90% figure.  The 10% that is anti gun-control, is just Democrats that said Yes, they do want kids murdered, as they were confused and thought the poll was about abortion.
