Well, I finally have internet access, so here are some of the pics I've taken in Yellowstone.

Sorry the wolf is a bit blurry, but he was about 600 meters away and I had to do some heavy cropping to get him big enough to even be seen.

Fantastic photo's as usual. Thanks for sharing!

Jumpin' Jesus, Rik, what kind of rig are you using to get those close-ups?  I lived in Yellowstone for 2 years and burned a hell of a lot of film, but never go any bear pics anything like yours.  Absolutely beautiful photography, good job!

WOW those are good pics!

So what caliber did you use on the bear?

Maybe you used a baseball bat?

Good pics.

When I was there 20 years ago, some man wanted his kid to stand right next to a herd of bison.  There was pretty dangerous, some people don't realize how dangerous those animals can be, Yellowstone is not a zoo where the animals are behind a barrier.

All the wildlife pics were taken with either a Canon 100-400 f4.5-5.6L lens or a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 lens with a 2x teleconverter, attached to either my Canon 5D or 20D.
A couple of those bear pics were at very close range though.  The first one, he was about 20 yards from me...I had to zoom out to get the pic.

You might want to give  'Moccasin Joe'  a little more space next time.  Just a suggestion.

No worries...there were two Park Rangers between me and the bear---and I was pretty sure I could outrun both of them.

Not yet.  Next month is when it's really crazy.  We were there early enough that it wasn't too bad at all---nothing like the Grand Canyon in July.

Oxbow bend on the Snake River?  I've got a picture I took about 20 years ago hanging on my wall that looks like the same scene.  Not nearly as good, though!

I think it is a Federal Crime to carry in a National Park.  However, it is not against the law for that bear to eat you.

No, this is Jenny Lake I think.

First Alaska, then Yellowstone.  Rik, ever think about cutting down on the wilderness, admit you have a problem?  We're worried about you man.

The pic of the wolf is very cool.

Very cool.  Of all the national parks i've been to, i enjoyed Yellowstone (tied with Glacier National Park) the most, but Yellowstone had such widely varied terrain it was most certainly more photogenic.

Now that I look again my pic doesn't have that ridge on the left in the shadow.

Actually, looking back through my pictures, you were correct---this is indeed the Oxbow Bend.

That is just......  Wow.  That was my favorite spot in the park that we visited.  I have a similar shot hanging in my bedroom.  It reminds me why I keep working.... so I can move out closer to places like that.

I love the rainbow at the bottom of the falls.

I hope you had a zoom on that camera

Excellent pics!
