Congrats!

I would love to find a same vintage non-wagon version set up almost the same.

My Grandson just starting running a junior dragster and I am getting an itch to drive something.

Something like that, I guess, lol

Thanks guys.

1/8 mile. Ran 7.8x yesterday.

Just a super simple and basic 350/TH400/9” with 3.90’s & ladder bars. Built it ten years ago and have been enjoying it every weekend since.

Way cool! We are in our 7th and final season of those too, lol. I “think” we have one race left, then he’ll be moving up to a big car next year.

My late uncle always said you had to worry about a few kinds of cars on the drag strip

Tiny trucks, pintos, Mustang 2, Foxbodys and Vegas

He would approve

Nice

Send me a spare motor.

I'm already tired of messing with a finicky methanol engine I'm not familiar with lol.

My son in law is about ready to order crate engine and we only have a few weekends left.  I keep telling him to let the boy learn the tree before we get to wrapped up in the actual car.

Damn, tell me more about your tow vehicle too lol

Were playing with an old HD 3 wheel golfcart and its a bit rough lol

..and that is very true, lol. Luckily this one was a CA car until ’96, then garaged ever since coming to IN in ’96. But even then, there are still some bubbles since I wash it every week.

Here in the midwest I have seen them collapse in the middle they are so rusted. Then the opposite where there are almost perfect with no rust.

7.8x isnt that high 10's low 11's ? Considering even more the 3.90 gears in the 1/8? What is your trap rpm ?

If I was starting over again, and in the slower classes, I would be going L206. We only ran one season @ 12.90, and was very lucky with an issue free Predator/Salisbury set up. After that, we ran a Blockzilla 1 and Shockwave OD for three years @ 8.90. For the last three years, we’ve been running a 3 1/4” Pure Power Animal/Shockwave OD @ 8.0x. Bought the PP second hand but fresh from Craws, and have it freshened by them once, since then. No idea how, but we’ve made it 7 years, with nothing more then changing oil after every race, and add alcohol before racing. I do clean the carb if the car sits for more than two weeks, but that’s just part of jr. maintenance. I still fill like a 7th year rookie, but I’m not complaining! It’s been a fantastic car for us (netting the boy 4 consecutive and current Class Championships, but still very ready to see it go here in a couple of weeks, lol.

As far as the tow cart, it’s a 125cc 3 speed semi-automatic with reverse, front engine/rear drive little ball of fun. All lights/horn/signals/etc., and also titled/registered/street legal here in IN (top speed of 38mph with two adults). Found it three years ago while looking to upgrade to gas, from our electric golf cart. It’s hauled around his car every Saturday since, with zero issues.

Nice Vega OP.

Had a wagon also , 327/PG.
Fairly mild running low 13's in the 1/4.

Had to use a come-a-long to keep the rear hatch from popping open. Never did any body strengthening or sub frame connector work.
Ran it for one short season and parted it out because the body was torque twisted permanently.

It was a learning curve.

LOL

Oh no. Runs 12.4x last time I ran it 1/4 mile.

Low 7’s in the 1/8 is 11 second car, mid to high 6’s are getting the 10’s. In the 1/4, I trap right @ 5500rpm. In the 1/8, it’s much lower. I’m sure I could up the shift rpm (I shift @ 5200) and gain ET, but since it's bracket racing, I’ve never seen a reason to push it. I drive it there, and drive it home, and it’s always been an issue free/happy car with being “mildly” beat on, so I decided long also that was just fine with me, lol.

Yeah, those are important on these tin cans for sure!

This one  has 2” square tubing as frame connectors. It’s done it’s job, as after 1000’s of passes, it's never twisted a bit.

For real.

Don't care what it is or if it's the most bracket racket car to ever bracket racket.

Driving to the track, swapping tires, winning, and swapping back to drive home is awesome.

The general rule of thumb is multiply the 1/8 ET by 1.56.

Unless you are making a ton of steam up top and the 60ft is garbage.

I agree 100%. Nothing brings a smile to one’s face, more than passing the cars on trailers (especially ones that you put on those trailers) on the drive home, after a good night. I run BFG’s with the matching rear Cragar’s on the street, then swap over to M&H cheater slicks on Weld DL’s once at the strip.

We just found a cracked valve seat which explains a lot.  I'm trying to convince him to buy a gas motor for the next couple years.

This racing thing is new to me but we're having fun.

I almost ordered a jeep cart like yours till I saw a youtube video.  No way I'm fitting in that with another grown adult lol.

This.  I always enjoy seeing the budget minded buys just getting out there an doing it.  Just like the track guys with their tiny trailer of track tires or tires strapped to the truck.
