I once saw several bright blinking lights in the night sky. The really strange thing was they were all lined up approximately on approach for the Kansas City airport runway. I couldn't believe they didn't ground air traffic until the UFO's went away.   ETA: While I am joking, my idiot brother-in-law saw what I described, literally on a farm road directly beneath the main approach vector for MCI, and called the Pentagon hotline.

| When I was a kid playing manhunt in the woods. One of the other kids, 16 or so, said, "hey, you ever seen that before?" Looked up and it looked like a distant star traveling back and forth between two other distant stars. I thought he was messing with me because he was older. Watched it for two minutes, then went back to the game. He said he saw them all the time. I still think he was fucking with me somehow. I was 13 so I think I was not that retarded to fall for some trick, but who knows. |

Yup. I was around 10 years old. Sleeping on my grandma's couch on the family farm, l was just looking out the big picture window over the open fields behind her house. It was probably around 10 p.m. and everyone else was already asleep (I always had trouble sleeping when I was younger). Suddenly, a huge dark object silently and slowly glided over the field and stopped. It just sat there for a few seconds, completely silent. Then, an extremely bright "searchlight", for want of a better word, turned on at the front of the object and started shining down and moving around the pasture. This lasted for maybe a minute or less, I really don't know as I was scared to even move. As it sat there scanning the fields, the light suddenly turned off, then the object started moving the same direction it came into the field at. Silenty, slowly, until it was out of view. I lay on the couch terrified during the entire episode. I tried screaming for Mom and Dad, but nothing came out. I told my parents what I saw the next day and grandma pipped up about seeing a bright light hovering over the chicken coop years earlier and how she tried chasing it off with a broom (not making that up). About a year later, I was looking through an encyclopedia that my mom just bought second hand and I seen a drawing of close to what I saw. The drawing was of a zeplin with a searchlight shining over a city at night. I don't think one of these would ever be shining a searchlight over a rural Minnesota field in the middle of the night though. I think this is the exact picture that was in the encyclopedia (crazy how I found it with a simple search!)

One time I saw something cross the sky at very high altitude and very high speed, in a tight zig zag pattern. It was very bright as it started going one direction and light would fade and then just as the light faded out, it would "re-light" going the other direction. Lather, rinse, repeat, all the way across the sky. That was probably 25 years ago. No airplane flying through the atmosphere could cross the sky at that speed while maneuvering like that. The zig zag pattern was too wide to just be a reflection off a satellite. I've spent a lot of time looking at the night sky, still can't explain it. |

I saw something that I could not identify when I was a senior in high school. I was driving my 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with my girlfriend in the front, and another couple in the back. We were traveling to the high school for a dance, and had just turned onto FM 1356 on the edge of town. Less than a quarter mile after making the turn, we saw a large black object flying over the road directly towards us. It was slightly wider than the 2 lane county road, and flying a little higher than telephone pole height. There were no lights, and it was probably traveling +/-200 miles per hour. The only reason I estimated that speed is that it was similar to the takeoff speed of a C130 (I grew up in a Navy town and saw a lot of military aircraft). It was shaped sort of like a Frisbee, but was wider than it was long. When it passed us the car died completely. I mean no radio, no lights, no engine. Nothing. Completely dead. After about 2-3 seconds before the vehicle came to a complete stop, everything came back on, including the engine. It scared the crap out of us. I have no idea what it was. I asked some of the Navy dads that I knew, and they just laughed it off as teenage hysteria. |
