Was looking to make something to go with my BBQ'd rib dinner tomorrow!

What is your absolute Goto summer dessert?

Was thinking maybe a Blueberry Pie? But have made that a few times now. Would be cool to try something new.

Southern Utah is probably the best place if you can stand the heat.

Although I didn't mind 29 Palms when I went on a vacation there courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Ok, for seriously.

If you do the pie, it's gotta have some ice cream on it imo

Back when I was a kid we would have fresh raspberry pie made with berries from our garden.  Probably the most summertime of all desserts.

It's just me and my boy, and he aint 21 yet.

Don't know if plain watermelon is worthy of a Special weekend desert. I have been on the road all week and looking forward to a badass home cooked meal. And chillaxing

My mom used to make strawberry shortcake.  She took those little round cakes from the day old bread store. Then put strawberries that she mixed sugar and pureed part of them. Topped with store brand cool whip. I haven't eaten that in years because of the sugar, but that sums up my childhood.

Strawberry shortcake is an option
My grandmother used to make a Jello deal where she put chunks of cake in a bowl then filled it with Jello and fruit cocktail. Little cool whip - BAM!

My choice too!

Right now I am getting so many blueberries cheap I made a blueberry pie.   It may be my second try.  It’s been years since I last tried to make one.   iirc it was tasty but soupy.

This one the crust is perfect but while the filling did set, the sugar did not all melt and was not well distributed.  The center is sweeter and has some sugar grains.  The remainder of the sugar flour mix that was left in the bowl after mixing with the blueberries was poured more in the center.  Oops.  I am guessing the internal temp needed another ten degrees.

Oh an my latest adventures.........lard makes a way better crust than Crisco or god forbid store brand Crisco copies.  Years ago I figured the store brands were the same as Crisco with a different label.   Not even close when it comes to pie crusts, it’s the least tender option.
