Yes, they were a little curious why I had come but once I spoke to them in Arabic, they were very friendly and open, ever after I told them I was a christian. Muslims in America aren't these sleeper cells that some people make them out to be - they are just like you and me, trying to raise a family and get by. |

| Real terrorists steer clear of mosques. There's a doctrine in Islam that if you're fighting jihad, you can get away with a lot of hanky-panky the infidels engage in to throw them off, make you less suspicious. Mosques are probably the last place I'd look for terrorists. |

Try Nation of Islam - which by the way has been categorically rejected as not in accordance with Islam by Muslim scholars. It says that white people are the devil. What I was attacking was the poster's notion that a certain "them" aren't like us. I know you guys are good guys, and I understand why you feel the way you feel. If we were fighting a war of conquest, I would be with you. But we are not fighting to conquer, we are fighting to liberate. We are striking at the root cause of terrorism - the dictators of the region. You guys do realize that all those Iraqi policemen who are on our side are muslims, right?

| the only mosque I ever been to was the one in daharan after we got back from iraq and was waiting to fly back to Ft. Stewart........it was one of those "cultural things"....anything that was a break from being cooped up in kohbar towers was OK by me.......the mosque didn't impress me, but then again a church doesn't impress me either |

Btw - as a really tired clarification, Christians are NOT considered "infidels" by Muslims. So if muslims are supposed to kill all infidels (which they are noty, btw) then Christians are safe. |
Got proof of that one? Just asking because I've seen proof to the contrary, but never proof that they don't consider Christians as infidels. I've also seen proof that they consider all NON muslims as infidels but nothing to the contrary. |
Christians, Jews and Muslims are all considered "People of the Book", whereas others are considered "infidel." Not sure where you'd find "proof" of it - it's pretty common knowledge. I'm guessing it's in the Koran somewhere. It's also worth noting that a lot of the quotes from the Koran that call for the killing of "infidels" and "idolators" are from specific historical books of the Koran, referring to past battles (similar to a lot of the gruesome desciptions that can be found - and quoted out for context - from the Old Testament). That said, I personally consider Islam to be a dangeous threat - in a general sense. First, because it is a relatively immature religion (with a lot of followers that seem stuck in a middle-ages kind of mindset). Second, because it seems pretty imperialistic in nature - trying to spread and expand, particularly into the west, which is inherntly a "threat" to western judeo-christian societies. Third, because there seems to be a LOT more extremism in Islam, and it seems to be TOLERATED a lot more by the rank and file. Sure there are occasional extremist Christians, who blow up abortion clinics, or whatever, but they are a tiny number of Christians, and almost all mainstream Christians reject and condem them. What I find very distrubring about Islam, is the higher proprotion of extremists, and the greater reluctance of the mainstream to reject and concem them. However - I also believe in accuracy and facts, and it irritates me on that level, when the facts are misrepresented. There are plenty of muslims in the west who wholeheartely condem the extremist muslims, and it is worth considering that the attacks on 9/11 completely violated many basic tenets of the Koran, and only a completely whacko extremist woudl even try to make the argument that the 9/11 attack was supported by the Koran. By the same token, a HUGE number of major muslim leaders and scholars condemmed 9/11 unequivocally (it ust never gets much media attention, but it's not interesting). |

Your point about 'they aren't supposed to kill all infidels' is equally trite - of course they aren't - they're supposed to TAX the shit out of the survivors, after KILLING all those that fight against the coming of Islam by the sword. Or kill all those that refuse to acknowledge Allah / Islam as supreme. That isn't rhetoric or "hate speech" - it is the literal tenets of the Koran and the hadiths. Anyone who takes the time to read them for themselves can see it plain as day. Or you can just trust the taqqiyah of an Islamic Terror Apologist. |
