Have you tried AA or talking to your doctor?

Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed, kneel down and communicate with GOD. Remember that in order to communicate, it is necessary to listen as well as speak.

... and then go to a support group of some kind.

It will help if you have support on this.  A group such as AA will do wonders over a solo effort.  If you won't do that, do you have a buddy that will help you?

I need the anonymity of the internet on this one. I think I might have an alcohol problem. I'm not even sure I should post this. I've done alot and seen alot in my time and it wears on me. I use the drink to stop the hurt. Does anyone have advice for me?

Yes, go talk to an MD.  This is not uncommon.  I have a friend who takes clonazipan and it helps her a lot.  Hang it there, these things pass, it just takes time.  I hope that helped...

Lots of help out there, if you want it.  This is a great first step.

Get some help, AA or something else.

Good luck!

If you think you have a problem, you do.

Get help. My first wife had a severe alcohol problem that finally killed her back in '01. I still miss Ginger very much.
So before you do something that you will regret later, or your family will have to remember you by, get some help.

Years ago I used to drink quite a bit and I asked myself the same question.

I decided if I could stay sober for a month I didn't have a problem so I went ahead and tried and was able to do it.

That may not be the best advise but it answered the question for myself.
