Has anybody handled and tried one of those new Rock Island 1911s. I have a COLT and a Springfield but my son is looking for an inexpensive entry level .45. $285 seems to good to be true but if it functions and is safe sounds like a good starter....

They are made in the phillipines and from what I hear mostly cast parts, including the slide and frame.

No I think the norinco's were forged frames and slides.

I heard a rumor quite a while ago that Charles Daley bought the norinco machinery.
