Get your ammo here - www.safariarms.com/ Nothing like a $18 per round revolver. Too much cartridge to get proficient. Too heavy for a wall hanger. Perfect. |

The bones in the hand and wrist are complex and relatively fragile. Just because someone COULD make a revolver in that chambering, doesn't mean it was a good idea! Besides, with a barrel that short, the energy and velocity potential of the cartridge is never realized. A real waste, really. CJ |
Not sure exactly how the law reads but I do know that there are many cals available over .50, like the 577 NE, 577 Try, 585 Nyati, 600 nitro and 700 nitro etc... A 12 gauge is .729 with slugs ranging between roughly .688-.700 depending on mfg. The reason I mention shottys is that some shotgun barrels are rifles and IIRC there is somthing in the DD wording in regards to smoothbores and such. I am sure sombody will chiime in the complete text of the law, word for word CH |

Concerning DD determinations, that's at the discretion of the ATF. And the ATF has ruled that many of these over .50 caliber big game rounds aren't DD's because they're big game calibers and that's how they're normally used. I don't think anyone has ever used one of these rounds to commit a crime in the United States. Interestingly enough, even the insane JDJ wildcats (.950 JDJ, anyone? Built from cut-down M55 20mm brass!) have been ruled by the ATF to be legal. I guess they figure that such ammo, and the guns that use it, are far too expensive and impractical for criminal use. And they're probably right. Nobody's going to rob a bank with a British double rifle chambered in .600 Nitro Express! The rifle's worth more than you're going to get from the robbery! CJ |
What the hell is with the "DU.com" and "Equal Time with Bob Boudelang" pics?

A .44 mag has pretty stout recoil, but is still pleasurable to shoot. I remember shooting a .416 Rigby and a .458 Win mag. Those guns had punishing recoil! I imagine a .600 nitro would probably be a tad worse. Compensator or not, I think that you stand a good chance of injuring your wrist! |
