| Is aspiration & pneumonia more common in the left lung than the right & is this due to the natural gravity path when one is lying down or is there another cause? |
Its Bacterial Vaginosis or Trich if you ask that dufus quack. ![]() jblachly is correct. There are 3 lobes in the right and 2 in the left. The architecture of the lobes cause there to be a more of a direct shot in the right lung and hence more aspiration type pnemonias in the right lower lobe. |
Thanks. That's pretty much what I thought but my wife was telling me that she remembered being told in her grad program that aspiration that occurred in supine positions was more common in the left lung. I couldn't find anything in my texts to back that up but I did run across an abstract online that expressed the same. |
