Here's the deal - Buy a membership here on the site (to which I have no connection other than being a supporting member) between 1/1/03 and 3/31/03 then post a brief message in this thread as to why you joined. On 4/1 I'll have my fiance pull a name at random from those who have posted here, and been verified as being a new member by Goatboy. The winning name gets the scope shipped to the them. I'm in, joined on New Years Day. Sweet. Edited to add. I have a 30-06 that was set up for hunting in forested areas and has a fixed 4X scope. I am now in Texas and need some more range. I am also broke because I moved to Texas to work for Enron last year. Before I started working they fired me (day after I flew in with my wife and kids). They did not pay my relocation, signing bonus, or any severance. This is all true, but I am actually doing OK. Several others deserve it more than me. I am just happy they opened up the Bronze membership or my wife would have killed me. $20 I can sneak by, $50 and I am a dead man. My only sob story is I had to sell my Sig and cash in a lot of savings. So that is my story. And, if anyone is hiring, I would love to hear about it. |

Whooohooooo! (again) I had already joined on the 2nd. Man when they say membership has it's privleges.... Shivan, thanks for doing this. It's really nice of you. I joined for a number of reasons. 1) The cheaper Bronze membership as without a job it's hard to justify these kind of things. 2) The giveaways and all the team member stuff (like this one ) 3) This site has hooked me up with some good people. Since I'm going to ask you to check these schmucks for authenticity, sure enter as GBJr....nobody will EVER guess it's you. Even if they do you can just pull a fast one and say, "Nope I checked his subscribing IP address, somewhere in Arkansas." [rolleyes] Yep, a website it is. Nice one too. Hi Ed. Sent the money 1/6/03. I joined because I wanted to do some research on free-float rail systems, but couldn't do a search. I knew it had been beaten to death a million times before and didn't want to get crucified for starting another FIRSH vs Every Other Rail System thread. That and I felt guilty for using this site for so long and not coughing up some $. By the way, you are probably one of the most generous people I've met. Between this, getting the 458 brass, sorting it all, and volunteering to load all of it, I'm amazed. Thank you. |

I was strapped for money after Christmas (down to $32 total to my name, Im a poor college student), so I opted for the $20 membership... I've been considering upgrading to Gold later this year. I joined because I enjoy the good company of ARFCOM'ers. I have been around here for a few months and Goatboy finaly made it easy enough on my wallet, I spend 4 or 5 hours here a day...so I might as well pull my fair share, as bandwidth isnt free. I get so much in return from you members experience, knowledge and quick wit, I really dont need another rifle, I just thought this post would be a good place to say thank you- all of you for making this board a relaxing, informative and friendly place. Its guys like SHIVAN that make this place great, in todays cold and selfish world it really amazes me to see such a great attitude! I could use a scope. [:D] |

My name is Horseman. Not my real name of course. I've had that handle off and on since I was a BBS Brat back in the '80s. No, I've never even ridden a horse. I picked it out, after some lyrics in a favorite (if cheezy) speedmetal song. [devil] [headbang] [devil] I made my checkin in the Hometown area (in Georgia) at the end of last year. I'd been surfing through ARFCOM for a year or so, as part of my regular daily news routine. Only hit the news articles, browsed to see what was going on, etc. Didn't even ponder membership until the late unpleasantness in DC, when there were periodic limits on the number of guests. At that point, I realized how much info I was getting out of the site... So, I signed up, and here I am. I figure, if I'm going to throw in, I'll throw in right, so I went for the gold, at the start of the new year. |

Now I've had mine for 6 months and love it, the knowledge gained is worth the price of admission in my opinion. I had been lurking around the site for tips on what to expect out of a new AR purchase and then later on how to build one from a kit. I got hooked! I have found the AR guys have an above avg intelligence compared to other sites, plus we all share a common interest, GUNS! In which, I am a collector/shooter. I was already planning on joining but was a bit lazy! With the change in benifits due to use, I joined. I hope honesty counts! |

Signed up 1/5/02. Why? This site let's me keep thinking and talking about guns well after all my other friends are fed up with it and go home. It's like going to a really great gunshow everyday!! Thanks to all those long time members who make us newbies feel so welcome. |
