Hey guys this may not be the best forum for this post but you guys should atleast be able to offer some feed back.
I applied for a guard position with Securitas, it is an armed energy guard position(nuclear power plant). I'm wondering how this company is to work for? How have they been to deal with proffesionally? Do they have a good reputation? Tim |
| I am in Texas. Securitas has such a bad name for fucggin over its employees, it has to beg people not to leave after training. And trys to keep all certs so the leaving employee will have to retrain at new company. Shitty company here in TX. Nuke pwr plant may be different. It will be a bad deal if it does not pay at least $19 ph to start. |

Just did some more searching, basically what you said. Alot of complaints from all over the country but everyone seams to believe it depends heavily on the site. Tells me its a corporate culture with how perverse it is. My biggest concern is the number of problems with paychecks and OT. I don't mind some BS on the job, it can only be as bad as my last job, but I have a real problem with a company cheating me of pay. The position starts at $17.68.
I would like to hear some more feed back, especially if someone can be positive. At this point though I think it will be negative. Thanks again, Tim |
| 17.68 to guard a nuke power plant....that seems a little low to me, i would expect higher then that from a private security company like that. it all depends on your plan for life, if your wanting to be a cop you could always look at local jails or a prison and get your foot in the door there. |

Quoted: what kind of quals did you have to have for the job? Thats the sad part, it doesn't sound like you need any quals really. They say you'll need to pass a physical, drug test, background check (no felonies it says, that should be a hard one. My last job didn't want you to have much more than Motor Vehicle violations when I applied 7 years ago, now they take anyone), an obstacle/endurance test, to be able to qualify with issued firearms, and finally a plus if you already have a Guard card. Oh and a GED or equivelent. At this point there is so little out there for jobs, I'm atleast going to go to the interview, with everything I'm reading it doesn't look good. To answer someone else's question, I'm not looking to get into law enforcement. I have a small landscape company and love it, I'm just worried about the economy and want a second income incase things keep sliding the way they have this past two months. Tim |

Securitas is the US is much of a joke, they have some overseas operations that are more respectable.
I believe Wackenhut's Los Alamos gig was starting at $20/$22 an hour; complete with Hummers and M4's. That was a few years ago, don't even know if W still has that contract. |

It might be ok job at an armed nuke power plant though. ETA: One of my coworkers was sexually harassed (A trucker pulled out his dick and started beating off in front of her) and Securitas said they would press charges and take it to court and get a settlement for her. 2 weeks later Securitas blew it off like nothing had happened. |

I don't think I would have to worry about that particular incident considering everyone will be armed, but that is similiar to several other stories I found online. |
| $17 ish to start during training is industry average. I am in the industry. I can't speak for Securitas(except I have never heard anything good) but the industry is VERY regulated and there is little room for differances at different plants. The job is likey very similar to any other Nuke plant. |
