Why is it that there is all ways an idiot at work who is obviously sick, but still feel the need to come to work and tell everyone how bad they feel, refuse to take medicine and practice no safe hygiene?

This pissed me off to no fucking end!  I come to my office guy is on the phone gets up and leaves (we share an office) I get on the phone and after I hang up he then tells me how bad he feels starts coughing and sneezing without covering his mouth.

Numbnuts goes around and tells every single soul how bad he feels and tells people that he won't take any sort of medication because nothing works.

If you are that sick STAY THE FUCK HOME! I do not like being sick, and since my position at work makes me probably the one of most essential people there, I can't afford to get sick because work that needs to get done, won't.

Once again, if you are sick, STAY HOME!

Why waste a sick day being home sick?

But there's no sense in walking around being a Typhoid Mary either.

Half the people here think nothing sort of being on your deathbed is a legitimate reason for missing work.

Sick people need to keep their sick butts at home. The only place they should be going is the doctors office or the pharmacy. And what's worse are the dipshit parents that send their sick kid to school because they are too lazy to take care of their own child.

I really love how everyone at my old job called in sick on saturdays and paydays.  It was especially funny when they came in to pick up their check.

I actually think the world view on this topic had changed. About 20 years ago, employers expected you to "play hurt" and come in when you were sick. Since then, they have figured out that one sick person can make a bunch of other people sick, so you have more absenteeism.

Some places encourage you to stay home when you are sick, others don't seem to give a shit and let you sit in their offices and suffer.

Up hre in the arctic (Alaska) during the winter (-40 below zero) we have a closed air system in the living quarters.

One asshole who comes to work sick, is all it takes to turn 40 people into basket cases unable to do their work, moving oil.

No mercy for idiots who come to work sick here.

All true and well said. That part in bold especially drives me nuts. Kids who are visibly ill - coughing like hell, runny noses, etc etc - being dropped off at school so my kids and everyone else's kids can get sick. WTF is up with that - never mind other kids, don't they give a damn about how their own kids feel? If your job or anything else in your life is more important than your kid's well being, you need to re-examine your priorities immediately.

There are a lot of 'heros' that will drag themselves in an be proud of how they can work through anything....which winds up getting the rest of their coworkers sick and reducing the overall productivity of the shop.

I make my folks stay home if they are sick.
If they call to say they are going to try to make it in I tell them to stay home.

I dont want whatever bug they have...keep your distance.
Doesnt make you a hero to infect everyone else.
Frankly, Im not impressed.
I can drag myself into the office too....but I have something called respect for the peers a share space with at work.

Most of the parents dont think of such moments in life, they are too busy buying stupid things ito make themselves feel good at the scarifice of their childrens future.  I dont know about the newer generations but I was brought up having it better than my parents and it was drummed into me that MY DUTY in life is see to it that my children have it better than I do.

However, fools nowadays sell their damn souls for those bigg-ass trucks or chevy "subdivisons" or paying on that huge loan on that huge house trying to impress someone...like I say damn fools, selling thier kids future short!

Ok folks tell me what's in the driveway and garage any needless toys?  So thats why your wife has to go to work everyday to help subsidize that lifestyle!!! No pity for you fools!

That's why they shove thier kids into school while sick, they cannot afford not to...they are tettering on a financial edge, a paycheck or two from losing everything from their relentless spin of the roulette wheel of life. I dont pity idiots like that much, but why do their kids have to pay the price???
Folks wouldnt it be nice if you could control some of those urges of spending money on yourself and save al little bit for your kids education, instead of pressuring them to be damn scholars constantly pursuing  scholarships money??? Yea many selfesh parents sell their kids down the river.

Soon GAS will be 4 bucks a gallon or better...what are they going to do then, feed the kids beans everyday while the fuggin' idiot continue to drive the big-assed vehicle around?  Yea no pity for the BUFFOONS I just feel sorry for their kids.

I woke up one morning last month with a temp of 103.

We were having a breakfast birthday party for a coworker who was turning 50.

I dragged myself to the diner, and sat by myself across from the group.

Stragglers kept trying to sit down @ my solo table, I kept telling them "No.  Sick.  Sit over there with everybody else."

Ate 2 of my 3 pancakes, told my coworker "happy birthday", told my supervisor I'd call once the Dr. told me what plague I had, and went home.

The FLU, ah HA!!!

5 days later I came back to work, hopefully non-infectious.

No one else caught it, not even the wife.

When it comes to illness, don't share.

I own a big ass truck that gets 12 mpg in the city and I still don't send my kid to school when he is sick. Then again I didn't shell out $250,000+ for my house and I will still be able to afford gas when it's $4 a gallon.

I have a lifestyle to maintain.

I should print this and tack it up at my work.  My idiot supervisor will come in sick as hell and say "I'm trying to lead by example".  Every idiot there will show up sick and then I'll get sick and now I'm out of sick days until September.

Because according to some people if you use sick days or call in sick its grounds for termination even if you are an otherwise good employee.

Dont forget to go get a doctors note for a cold...

I've been at work with pneumonia before, I never got anyone else sick with proper care.

Just pay attention, wash your hands & face regularly, use purell regularly, and make sure everyone knows to stay the heck away (I hate people that stand close so this comes easy to me).

Telephones, keyboards, headsets, doorknobs, just don't touch it... there's a ton of other stuff...

It's not a matter of being tough but necessity sometimes.

ETA: most people who call in sick are just full of shit with regard to ability or contageousness(sp?).

For me, I'm a working stiff without paid sick leave. If I can operate safely and with a decent degree of efficiency, I'll be on the job. Missed 2 days in the last 5 years, and they were because I truly could not make it to work.
