Say I want to control 3 sets of speakers, but my receiver only has outputs for 2 sets - what can I do about that?

IIRC, you can get an exteran A/B speaker switch.  One set of wires into the unit and two sets (A and B) out.  Some have even more opitons (Video in/outs as well).

3 different sets...? So you have 6 speakers, each one in stereo?

You could put a switch on one output...

FYI, switches are not exactly hi-fi.

What do you mean by that?

Eventually, yes I will 3 sets. It'll be for my basement.

I have never seen one, but theres no reason they cant make a selector for multiple sets of speakers. It would wire into the A or B speaker inputs and allow multiple inputs to be selected from that input. I would check Radio Shack online.

Why do you need so many?

you could buy another cheap receiver or any amp with RCA inputs.

Come out of your existing receiver from the VCR out or TAPE out or MINIDISC out. All of those outs should carry the full audio from whatever source you are listening to even as you switch inputs. Hook that up to any LINE IN (except phone) on a cheap amp or receiver.

It's a 1500 sq ft. basement - one set will be over by the pool table, one in the bar, and one by the theater room. I have a chance to wire it before the basment is finished, I want to wire it now while I can.
