Since its a machine gun it is controlled by federal law (possibly in addition to state law).  The ATF will not approve a Form 4 (which is needed to transfer a machine gun to a different person) if the applicant is under 21 years old.

I assume that you know that MP-5s (that a normal citizen could buy) are currently selling for ~$8000, right?

If it's a semi auto version it might be sold as a pistol, don't know anything about Texas law. Depends on barrel length. Some of those semi auto sub guns have extra long barrels to qualify as a rifle.

You're not 18 and looking at a $ 3,500 HK!! Man let me know if you need help on that paper route, I could use the extra money.

An HK 94 (looks like a long-barreled MP5) is a rifle, and would be totally legal for an under-21-year-old to buy.

An HK SP89 (looks like an MP5K with no forward grip) is a pistol, and you'd need to be 21.

Jesus Christ, hk 94?? Someone has wayyy too much money. please do share the wealth with me =D. BTW, the Hk-94 is a 9mm caliber. I'm pretty sure you cannot purchase any handgun caliber until you are 21, so i suggest getting a 91, or 93...hehe much more fun. 91 packs that bigger .308 punch.
