| If one joins the army infantry does he have a choice between what rifle configuration he wants, such as barrel length, carbine, flattop or A2, scope and other accessories. thanks |

Hahahah oh suuure... mp5fullauto: Wow it's great to be issued my rifle finally!! I'd like a 16" barrel, if you don't have 16 I'll go with 14 1/2", flattop, ummm ACOG sight and I'd like full auto instead of 3 round burst... can I get a Colt barrel instead of FN? Also if I could get a receiver without the forward assist that would be "schweeet"!! Armorer: (grabs standard M16A2 from a row of 500 identical rifles) "'Scuse my while I shove this up your ass" LOL Just kidding with ya man. |
| As far as I know, I was a mainre not an soldier but they will give you your basic rifle then after that you can add after market accessories. Like if your you rissued a M16a2 you can go out and buy a red dot for the top. But I would only do that during a mission where I would actually use it. Why screw up my stuff just to play war games. I'll ruin their equipment. No if you were special forces then it would be different. |

In May, 1962 I arrived in Korea (asked for Germany) with a tank crewman's MOS and was assigned to 3rd Plt., "A" troop, 2nd Recon Sqdrn, 10 Cav. A platoon was made up with a scout section, a tank section, a mortar squad and a rifle squad. I was assigned to a rifle squad because the tank crews were already filled, and was given a BAR. When the M-14's were issued they took the select fire lever off all of the rifleman's M-14s except for the people that had carried the BAR, we still had the full auto option. I would have preferred to keep the BAR but didn't have a choice. |
