NASA does shit like this to do shit like land on the goddamn moon but the government would rather spend billions on crap. Like telling you not to sell kids toys at your yardsale.

They didn't JUST tie it down, it was hooked up to instruments that gauge it's thrust. That is the interesting part, who makes transducers that measure millions of pounds of thrust? And how accurate are they?

Calling Mythbusters!

That part will be cancelled within the next two weeks is what my guess is.  The Augustine commission will likely go with a Delta IV CBC for a first stage for the Ares I upper stage or a Ares V with a Ares I upper stage mated to the Orion. That seems to be the rumor of the day at work.

We don't even talk about that aspect of the space program. The lift vehicles are what we deal with. Looks like from what the summary said, the ISS will die in 2015-2016.

So I see.

The Summary states that astronauts have been circling in LEO since 1972.  I wonder how this typo made it past multiple proof readers.  Is there really this little knowledge of our history in space?

.58% of the 2009 budget for the ENTIRE Agency.

I try not to wonder about how NASA spends and look at the ENORMOUS socialist bullshit we do spend.

I'd be strangely comfortable with HHS and NASA switching budgets.
