| Ive heard alot of guys abbreviate "barrel" as "bbl" I dont understand this, there is only one "b" in barrel, yet two in "bbl". Im probably missing something, will one of you guys clue me in? |

I don't know where bbl comes from to abbreviate barrel - but it is actually from liquid measurement, and is an OLD abbreviation. As far as the lb/pound things, lb is from the Latin "Libra" - which translates to "weigh," IIRC. At least there is a halfway understandable reason behind that one... Look at the Periodic Table sometime, and you will see how much Latin has influenced things... FFZ |
