My Wife has the BlackJack II.  Save yourself the money and forget the Telenav.  Just get internet access and use Google Maps.  It does the same stuff but you don't have to pay extra for it.  You will have to find someone to "unlock" it for you so it can do that.

She was looking at the at&t tilt, blackberry and the BlackJackII.  She loves that it is so compatible with Windows Mobile.  Just plug it in, press "sync" and in a few seconds, all her calendar events and emails are on it.

It rocks. Hasn't dropped a phone call unlike her old Samsung Sync.  And it is THINNER than her sync was.  It is a seriously amazing piece of hardware.

A word of warning...

Most of the devices running Windows Mobile have the same sort of problems that you encounter with Windows on a PC... they lock up at times, certain apps screw the phone up, etc.  At my last job, I dealt with purchasing and setting up several different types of phones.  I messed with a few phones that had Windows Mobile and they were constantly needing new downloads to keep them working right, combined with random software problems they were a pain in the ass.

Blackberry has the best track record in the industry for a reliable OS, excellent aps, durable devices, etc.

I have a Pearl and it is the best phone I've ever owned, bar none.  It's blackberry or nothing for me from now on.

Get the AT&T Tilt instead (HTC 8925). It has everything you want and more. Im posting this from my tilt as I lay in bed waiting to get tired (using the ful version of ARFCOM). Having the ability to use WI_FI is awesome. Give it a look.

He's full of shit.

I sent and received text messages on mine just fine before I got the data plan.  Blackberry has it's own MESSENGER and you need data in order to do that, but normal SMS text messages do not require a data plan.

Trust me, he lied to you.
