in the event of a event or shtf would you bug out or bug in? imo i would rather bug in all my supplies family guns and ammo are at my location. *i plan to have a concrete/rebar safe room that i would like to make flood proof. bugging out you can only take so much and have to worry about actually being able to get to location and depend with your vehicle. and possible gunfire. bugging in you can barricade yourself at location till the threat passes stock a 1 month worth of supplies oxygen if needed etc etc |
really depends on what kinds of S is HTF...my home can handle quite a few situations....but what if SHTF for you is CA forest fires...or a Cat 5 hurricane heading toward your trailer...staying at home might not always be the best plan but for most of us and most circumstances it probably will be if you are sufficiently prepared. You might get more responses over in SF. |

Staying home is always the better choice unless the location of your home is far worse than surrounding areas. Preparing so you can get home from work, or live out of your car with what you have during work hours, might be higher on the importance list than deciding whether to stay home or run. |

Being that I live in Germany and most all my shit is home in Montana I would bug out. And that would be totally dependant upon how much of the US gov't and military is left over and still in control. I just hope that I can make enough preparations back home over the next few years to make sure everything I have is secure and well stocked. But I also plan on being able to bring some left over goodies back with me... |

Yep. Bandwidth exceeded is usually where we meet.

Depends on your definition of SHTF vs. TEOTWAWKI. Mine: SHTF = short-term crisis, e.g. Katrina, ice storm, blizzard, loss of power for some period of time. TEOTWAWKI = extended to permanent crisis with attendant total loss of all support infrastructure, e.g. power, medical, food production and delivery, etc. SHTF = bug-in TEOTWAWKI = bug-out to the family homestead and farm where the remainder of my extended family (parents, brother and sister and families) live. We have 700+ acres with about 2/3 of it prime farmland and the remaining 1/3 mostly woodland with a little "swampland". |

Everyone's assuming that they will have time to bug out. If the TEOTWAWKI scenario is a nuke unexpectedly going off in a major city, then everyone and their dog will be bugging out and the roads will be well-nigh impassable. Generally, SHTF,in, TEOTWAWKI, out is a good philosophy. But you always need to keep in mind the unexpected consequences. |
