This actually really good advice. If for some reason (even if it is a very small chance of happening) everyone has to run for the hills, 3 or 4 cans of bug spray may make it more "comfortable". They do not take up much room either.

Kit as in a small pouch, small bag or backpack? What is capacity are we talking?

My E&E pouch has:
Fenix LD 20, suunto compass, leatherman fuse, a small folder, rite in rain notebook, and map

Under the map has:
sharpies and XL hand warmer

Main compartment has
Cotton tinder, Oral IV, waterproof matches, water purifying tabs, surviva tin, clif bar, 2x glow sticks, and an emergency blanket:

Which supplements another kit:

I have kits - light kits, medium kits, heavy kits ... backpacks and tupperware kits depending whether we're running, walking, or driving out.

Ideally I bring all given the time.

The smallest is a necklace with a lighter, flashlight, tiny multi tool, a whistle, and a mirror.

All but that one have food, water, shelter/clothing, and ammunition in them.

There are three backpacks ranging in size/weight from a 12 pound, to a 20 pound to a 30 pound pack. The 20 pounder is the primary with three days food and water, a few 30-round magazines for the M-4 carbine and a box of pistol ammo, a 440/2M amateur radio with a spare battery, a full sized fixed blade, first aid, changes of underwear and socks. The little one and big one supplement the middle one with either a bit more or a lot more food, water, ammo, and clothing/shelter. If we're running and I have to take one I take the middle one. If we're running and have time I take the middle one and my tiny wife the little one. If we're walking she takes the middle and I take the large.

Additionally I have 5 gallon jugs of water and gasoline to toss in the truck, .50 cal cans full of first-aid materials, and tupperware containers full of cut-down MREs. If we're fleeing in the 4x4 those and the packs go into the back.

There's also a couple of M-4 carbines, a 1911, and a pump shot-gun always ready to go in the safe.

What pouch is that in?  Looks like good kit.

fire making materials at least two different kinds because a bic lighter wont always work, several garbage bags you can use these for anything from making a poncho to holding water/food to collecting water from condensation from plants etc, some kind of first aid kit, I supplemented mine with several of the Israeli bandages(you can get them on amazon for about 6 bucks a piece and yes they are made in Israel), compass and laminated maps of the local areas around your home and work with several routs marked out in various colors of marker, I say laminated because if you get a regular paper map wet your screwed, a headlamp as well as two other sources of light, a change or two of underware stored in gallon Ziploc bags, several pairs of socks because as LT Dan from forest gump said " an army moves on two things its stomach and its feet keep your feet as dry as possible if you have to walk in wet footware you can take the Ziploc bag they were stored in and wrap it around your feet before putting your shoes back on, a shirt or two and a long sleeved jacket to keep you warmer, I keep about 50 foot of paracord in My bug out bag because you can never have enough paracord it has a ton of uses, a good sturdy blade is a must, it doesn't have to be a fixed blade either.I also have a couple packs of mountain house freeze dried food, also a small cooking kit for boiling water, a water bottle or two, I also added a small panfishing kit that I bought at walmart for pretty cheap as well as a cheap roll of Berkley 50lb test fishing line for making snares as well as other things. this is just a few things that I have you can always customize with what might be specific to the environment which you are currently living in.

sorry for the wall of text guys
