they recently converted their entire system here in the metro denver area to an all digital network.
they provided up to 3 'converter' boxes per household. mind you, I only have basic cable as a requisite for broadband interwebs. I'm starting to notice that the video quality sucks. I"m watching on a HDTV fwiw. anyone else notice the same? I'm gonna see about going to a business account and increasing my bandwidth and have zero tv (I normally watch something on Netflix before regular tv anyway) |

You are watching standard def on a new HDTV in a 16:9 ratio. Get an old tube set and enjoy your basic. Seriously, I'm not trying to be rude or sarcastic, that is just how it is. Do yourself a favor, spend $10 a month on one hd box, and enjoy. What these guys said... |

Quoted: a 20 year old tube set will look better than any modern hd format flat screen as the standard def picture will be stretched both horizontally and vertically to fill your screens pixel real estate. they recently converted their entire system here in the metro Denver area to an all digital network. FWIW Denver metro cable guy. |
| I have basic, basic all crap, all hours. 13 channels and 6 are shopping channels. One channel is 24/7 showing how to hook up the box. I don't want to see that crap in HD, 3D or at all . Requirement to get interwebs. LPB is the only saving grace in the mess here. |

Quoted: I understand this shit isn't HD, but damn, they went digital and the picture quality sucks compared to analog. one would think that they would at least port the HD channels in HD (local/broadcast stuff and what ever else is native in HD) They do if you pay for HD and have an HD capable converter. |

Signal quality is lost at that point. Try this: Disconnect the cable box and plug the HDTV directly into the cable. Go into the setup menu for the HDTV and have it scan the incoming signal. Depending on your local service, it could pick up the digital signals without the box. The channel designations could be screwy though, such as '23-5' |
