i have  a dvd that i would like to pull the audio off.
but have not a clue how to do it .
there has to be a way could someone help?

you might be able to use windows wave recorder. Play the DVD and run the recorder at the same time "might" work.

Sound Recorder (sndrec32.exe) should work, though you might have to adjust properties such as record length (it might default to 30 seconds), record source, etc.
