| am trying to free up some space on my computer by deleting files i dont need anymore. and when i look and see how much my c drive is taking up it says its using 25.9 gigs of space. but when i check to see how much my program file, windows file and other mic files in my program file it says its using about 15gigs of space. whats up with that? and does anyone have any advice on how to free up space my computer is a few years old |

Uninstall programs you don't use anymore. These typically fill C:\Program Files\
You can also reduce the size of your recycle bin/trash. The computer reserves a certain % of disk space for the recycle bin. I think default in Windows is 10%, but it might be 5%. You could also buy another hard drive and simply add it. |

Make sure you try and delete any programs you dont use via control panel / add / remove programs then look in the other directories as mentioned. Use the disk clean up and defrag the hard drive.
