I am trying to measure the dB ratings in my car stereo, and I was wondering if these were good enough for that:

Also, besides having a digital readout, is there anything better about the digital model?

I have an aftermarket stereo system with 4 5"x7" polk door speakers run at full RMS wattage by a 4-channel blaupunkt amp connected to my sony headunit.

Thanks,

- Mike

What's your application?  To get a nice flat frequency response curve,  or figure out where you stand in dB drag racing?

For the former,  the Rat Shack meters (either of them) are sufficient.   For the latter,  you don't want to even KNOW what a suitable meter that can read that SPL range
actually costs.

Well, I am actually just looking to measure the dB level at the normal volume level I listen to when I drive, as well as measure its "max" dB level before distortion. I don't do the dB drag racing, I don't have enough money for that, lol.
