That being said, do you mean metal vs. polymer? I prefer polymer, for my own indescribable reasons. Both have run great in my AR, pmags and tapco aluminum mags. You can usually get pmags a little cheaper than the aluminums, and I think they look cooler

Pmags also have the added benefit of the anti-tilt slot that does a fantastic job of keeping the follower level.

ah, I see.

No experience with steel mags, I'll leave that up to others. Aluminum works great for me, though. Nice and light, sturdy as well (probably not as much as a steel mag, but gets the job done well at the range.)
