Since I didn't get the feedback I was craving in another thread...

I found this image which painted our troops in a bad light so I got annoyed... It's original location was (please leave this link cold) http://pakalert.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/change4th_dees.jpg ... I hope it comes in handy.

The 'artist' is just projecting what he/she would like to see done to those who disagree with the current administration.

We live in highly charged times when the nation is more polarised than any of us now living can remember.

Any public figure is at risk of bodily harm –– aways has been, always will be.

Nonetheless, we are wise to step away from depictions of bodily harm to extremely polarising public figures.

Once was a time when something like "burning (or hanging) in effigy" was generally recognised as merely symbolic representation, and as legitimate protest.

Nowaday... not so much.

The silence in this thread is deafening.

And that silence speaks volumes.

Sign of the times.

*shrug* now I too back away, and return to my little bowl of beans and rice.

... and the silence in the other thread. Putting someone in a headlock isn't bodily harm though, just a way to restrain them, and as such I feel that it's not crossing any lines... although, of course our site administration decides that. However, the first picture to me was decidedly anti-American, depicting our troops as the 'oppressors' and that did upset me, so I felt the need to change it to depict a more favorable situation. I remember seeing images of President Bush being guillotined, hung, shot, you name it. I guess everyone knows there is now a double-standard in play...

I thought people would cheer when I first posted this. Oh well, as you pointed out, it speaks volume of the fear and the evident chilling of any free speech in this Republic. ARFCOM, steel yourselves, don't let the current political climate intimidate you, we still have freedom of speech (assuming we don't violate site guidelines, which I'll always defer to in the interests of being supportive for the survival of this site)

The psychology of the original image is telling; it looks to me as if this Dees character either A) didn't have what it took to be a member of our Armed Forces, or B) Feels threatened by the people who do, and is just expressing an irrational hatred in as antagonistic a way as he can find.

I see no reason to pay this kind of stuff any mind.

*yawn*

Has he actually done any artwork that was worth looking at?

Some of it was pretty good, some of it was decidedly anti-Israel.

You can find a lot of his images just search for 'David Dees' on google, unsurprisingly a lot of it was on rense.com

Bullshit.

The artist is depicting LIBERATION DAY.

Notice the flag...that is the flag of the Second American Revolution.

Upon further examination of his work, he is also a Truther, and thinks the Jews have Obama in their pocket.

He also considers Obama to be the "Black Bush"..

His "artwork" doesn't appear from this first glance to be anything wirth googling. It's not even art, per se, it's just sampled images cobbled together to make some nebulous and vapid political "point."

I'll bet the liberal trash just eat this shit up. So much for them being to so-called "smart kids" of the political spectrum.

Of course there is a double standard.

It is all too easy to blame that double standard all on "political correctness".

But something deeper is going on.

You know how –– for example –– I'll make up an example –– let's say you work with a bunch of people, and one guy always, always jokes about embezzling the company's cash and absconding to some tropical paradise?  Might be the most trustworthy guy there, with just  a wierd sense of humor.  But... comes the day the company bank account shows a huge unaccounted for withdrawal –– all eyes go to good old what's-his-name.

Sure, he could have done it.  Probably didn't do it.  But all eyes turn to him.

Every public figure is at physical risk.  Some moreso than others.

A lot of us do not want to be Costa Rica Charlie, joking about his embezzled island paradise.
I thought people would cheer when I first posted this. Oh well, as you pointed out, it speaks volume of the fear and the evident chilling of any free speech in this Republic.

A lot of conversations take place in hushed tones these days.

We arfcommers know that as proponents of the second amendment, we would be at disadvantage and lose ground if something untoward happened to a liberal public figure –– and we distance ourselves from such depictions.

Over the past month you have posted some patriotic artwork that is is uplifting and thought-provoking.

The pic(s) in this thread are almost radioactive.

Kind of a litmus test.

We too.  We fear.  Fear is a wholesome and life-preserving human instict.

The silence we observe here now is human instinct in action.

Is this good or bad, wise or cowardly?  No. None of the above.   It just 'is'.

Not disagreeing with your observations, but if accurate it bothers me a great deal. We see no such restraint from the leftist garbage and that's an understatement. Recently I read an article that pointed out that 'conservatism on the defense' is doomed to failure. We can no longer afford to ignore the tactics of the left, we can no longer afford to 'play nice'. That is what has gotten us where we are today. We need to be as brutally militant as they are.

Recently I found an image depicting capitalism in a negative light (I am reposting here) (the original was at http://nomadiccerebrations.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/capitalism_graffiti_luebeck.jpg )

So I was annoyed. i changed it to look like this:

We have to fight back on the streets (protests), in the press, on the net.
ETA I found the original image...

psyops: I know you weren't condemning them, but rather pointing out facts, and I'm glad at least you did.

As long as site administration (Ed, the 'systems' staff, and our moderators) approve, or at least don't judge our commentary to be detrimental to the survival of ar15.com we should continue to push things.

I'm not active on any other site any more (since over 3 years ago) because I felt this was the 'nexus' of conservatism. Perhaps even militant conservatism. Here are gathered the best of the best (in my obviously prejudiced opinion) of our military, our law enforcement, our patriotic Americans.

Perhaps I am mistaken but it seems to me we should use ar15.com even more than we do to help focus on ways to turn things around (within the limits of Ed's patience and willingness of course)

I am so gloomy, this isn't a case of 'conservatives out of power, we're going to raise hell until we get a Republican in office' sort of feeling, it is more like 'Our Republic is ceasing to exist if we don't do something soon' kind of mood.

I do not take these images that seriously. I read a LOT and spend too much time on the internet and had not really seen these before.

It is tinfoilhattery in photoshop form. Seems like something an angry 14 year old might come up with.

If you're outraged by them, I think that was the "artist's" intent. Color me meh.

FWIW, that picture is not showing what is "obviously" U.S. soldiers.  There is, in fact, a distinct bluish hue to both the uniforms and an the helmets, perhaps indicating police or the UN?  I know I've seen bullet-riddled blue helmets proudly displayed and cheered on this site...

So if someone had you in a headlock you would not feel justified shooting them in the face in defense of your person?

isn't a headlock using appropriate force to restrain someone?
