Doing my fall cleaning. Have almost a hundred computer diskettes I want to get rid of, as I haven't used one in years (!), and neither my desk top or my lap top have a port for them.
Some might have sensitive info, otherwise I would drop them all off at Goodwill. Because of the sensitive info, I don't want to pitch them in the trash. I don't think smashing them would be sufficient. Anybody know who in town would have a de-gausser? Or am I stuck with going to the public library, hoping they have a computer that takes diskettes, and reformatting each one, one by one? |

Reformatting them isn't completely effective. Lacking a degausser - break them open and slice-up the actual magnetic section. Or burn them. +1. or sent to someone you trust that has a floppy drive that can wipe them. But realistically, I'd just destroy them. Burn/shred/etc. |
