I found out because it was raining and a nice NC HP pulled me over for speeding and had me sit in the passenger seat of his car when he ran my numbers, and he was listening to Iron Maiden.

It was cool.

Does the city pay for the 26" wheels on your Escalade or do they deduct it from your paycheck? Also I heard that you get a gold shield if the RIAA certifies your new single at 1,000,000 sales. Is it like that?

I use to listen to the talk news radio every now and then, late night or something about the guy who talks about UFO's. .gov conspiracies and bigfoot. They took him off or moved to a later time.

I started to read this and stopped at DRE.  I was thinking, "Do this guy really listen to some sort of DRE audio manual while working?  How lame is that?"  I think I need a vacation.

ETA: We get CD players but many of us get our own satellite radios.  I think the only thing that keeps satellite radio alive is truckers and cops.

Google for LE needed info, weather radar, google earth, etc....nothing else on mine.

I don't look or log into anything I wouldn't want to see on the screen in court.

+1, made for some interesting discussions when we would all meet up to eat dinner.

Usually I would listen to talk radio on my iPod and during the boring winter months on 3rd it was books on CD.

Not a LEO of any sort, but used to work as a cell site tech and covered most of four states. Countless nights very late on the way to or from some hilltop in the middle of nowhere. The nuts on that show were always good for a laugh if nothing else.

Last time I was in the back of a police car* there was an Eminem CD playing.

* Got in a car wreck and it was cold outside, so we were sitting in the back seat

Cars have radios taken out.

I carry one for downtime usually but do not listen to it when I am 10-8.  I will put on Barry Manilow if you won't stop running your yap in the back seat.

The night rolls into mornin'...just another day.
Happy people pass my way...
Lookin' in their eyes...
I see a memory...
I never realized, how happy you made me....

Yo, dude...undo these handcuffs so I can hold up a lighter.

I prefer banjo music when taking someone to jail. Doesn't help that I'm in the sticks too.

But yes we have radios in the cars.

My cousin is Chief of Police of a medium size Oklahoma suburb (population around 50k), I can't say which on for obvious reasons...

But he invested several hundred dollars of his own money putting amps and sub-woofers, etc in his patrol car. He was a big hit with lots of the kids in the city when he would pull up with them in the city park, open the trunk to show off his subs, and crank his patrol car up a few decibels.

When I was in patrol I had a habit of sitting at hot drug corners while doing paperwork, and playing classical music over the PA system.
It was suprisingly effective.
