?
good luck though
I think throwing the nickle was a bit much.  No need to "perk" him up when he has a FA and is already "perked".

Sounds like you were being an asshole by making the situation worse. If you didnt want them there in the first place you should have told them to leave.

she comes back up on the front porch and tells me what he said and that he has his pistol with him.

while he is sitting in his car i can't help but to heckle him as i stand on my porch

i reached in my pocket and pulled out a nickle. i then tossed the nickle onto the back glass of his car

at this point i reached and pulled my glock 31 from my waistband

IMO...

Its never a good idea to escalate a situation. Especially if its not even your drama.

Didn't your CHL course teach you to DE-escalate a situation?

I'd say you handled everything right if it didn't include the nickel bit. But since it does, you're an idiot. What if he shot her or himself? From the way you tell the story, that could easily have happened. The guy is talking suicide plus murder, and you're provoking him? What in the blue fuck were you thinking? You're lucky it ended the way it did.

Having a concealed weapon isn't a license to provoke situations where you'll have to use it; it gives you a last resort incase your efforts to de-escalate a situation by civilized means fails.

Your behavior is exactly the kind of thing that gives libtards ammunition. Don't do it again, for the rest of our sakes.

Seems like a clear case of 'When Idiots Collide'

Someone of that nature would not be welcome on my property or near my home whatsoever.
I would not have left the decision to call the police up to that woman. Her judgement clearly already sucked.
I would not have stood idly by after hearing of the shooting threat.
I absolutely would not have egged him on in the way you did.
I absolutely would have removed all of us from the porch after his first departure and called the threat into the police.
Upon his return I would have called the police immediately, rather than waiting to see what a clearly unstable individual was going to do with their pistol.
Upon his return, I would have draw down and kept him covered at all times.

Your nickel stunt could have got the girl killed via his overreaction.
Could have got you and yours injured / killed.
And you almost turned your life to real shit by provoking an unnecessary shoot.

Choose your friends and acquaintances with more care. Your piss-poor selection brought this garbage to your porch. Your choices of action made it even worse.

, i decide to "perk" him up a bit to see what he would do. so i reached in my pocket and pulled out a nickle. i then tossed the nickle onto the back glass of his car(no damage type of toss)....

now, did i do the right thing?(i know the best thing would have been for me to call the police first off, but i am not big on that kind of thing). to refraise, did i do the right thing AFTER he had reached and picked up his piece?

did he actually have merit to press charges on me?

was a wild night that night to say the least

RED = Very Bad Idea
BLUE= What you should have done from the beginning, and when you didn't then immediately done it when he showed up again after already making threatening statements of killing himself and the girl.

nothing never came out of the whole deal for me. he never did talk to the police to tell them the whole ordeal and i feel that it is way past time for him to charge me. that is why i waited until now to post about it. since that night he has never shown his face here again even while she has visited us several times since then. she never did take him back. i think that this guy was about to get over the line all the way around though. but it is up to her on that end as far as going to the police. she later showed me and my wife a letter that he left her right after she broke up with him threatening to kill himself, her and her children so they could all "be togther in a happier place". i knew nothing about the letter the night that all of this went down or i would've turned him into authorities myself. i gave her some advice, but as long as he does not come back to my place then that is all left up to her as to whether or not she takes said advice and turns him in for the letter.

No, you did something stupid.. Both before he picked up his pistol and after..

#1 Why the fuck would you escalate a situation where both you and others could be in danger of being shot?

#2 You drew down and just stood there on your front porch? Nice use of cover. Shit he had better cover sitting behind his windshield!

Bottom line.. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER escalate a situation when there is a way out.. You were fucking with lives that are not yours..

ETA- Glad to see I am not the only person that thinks this was a FuckTard move...

Shouldn't be left up to her. You have knowledge of an unstable and dangerous individual who has made repeated threats to kill her and kids as well. It is your duty to report his ass to the police for his crime, and to prevent a much worse criminal action.

You are lucky.

Quit being a dumbass, and if you don't, at least stop carrying while you are a dumbass.   We don't need this shit in the news "CHL holder shoots man after harrassing him".

i honestly appreciate your honest answers, and yes after i looked at the situation more clearly after everything died down i did realize that i didn't use the best of judgement in my actions, but it was a wierd case of this clown being at my house to begin with.

i will say that i did handle it wrong. after the nickle deal, everything happened so quickly that i really don't think that he even knew what was going on. i am glad that nothing bad came out of it.

about #2, i did have cover. i was behind one of the columns on my porch. she ran from beside of his car very quickly and into my house when he started reaching.

and yes, i was a dumass that night looking back at it.
