I went to fav restaurant while ago and found a fiver on the floor right in front of the cashier desk. I asked the gent in front of me had he perchance dropped it and he said no. Finders keepers. What would you have done?  Find any money lately?

I find a lot of money on restaurant tables after the people leave.

Just pennies and the like, lately.

When I was a kid I found a wallet that was absolutely FAT with cash. I turned it in. Some neighbor kid watched me do it and insisted she "helped".

I got $5 in thanks - that was a HUGE amount for me. Might well have been $100. I bought an aircraft carrier model kit.

I found a dollar bill about a year ago under the tire of my truck. It's on the sun visor. It's my lucky buck" I guess.

I found a $50 in the street by my old shop...about 7pm in an industrial area...not a soul around. Took my wife to dinner.

As long as it is not in a marked bank bag that fell out of an armored truck, you are prolly ok.

I woulda asked dude like you, then asked the cashier.  If both said no, they I would have five bucks off my meal.

I found an envelope with about $1500 cash in it outside of a bank once.  I took it back in and turned it in.  Fortunately there was a deposit slip in there so they called the person and let them know they dropped it.  I think I would try to return anything over $1 just b/c I would want someone to do that for me.

I found a $20 bill floating around in a wave pool one time.  Wave pools are great places to find that sort of thing.

I have a friend that found $12k in the attic of an old house he had just bought, he used it to buy an older vette.

The old owners were deceased, he didn't bother to try and contact any kin.

I spotted a 20 on the floor near the cashier behind me at Walmart. I picked it up and asked her if she had dropped it and she said she wasn't sure...so I gave it to her just in case.

One of the floor managers (or whatever they're called) saw it and knocked $20 off my total.

Not sure what the law is, but I'm willing to bet legally the money was conveyed with the sale of the house since the seller is responsible for removing anything of value that they wish to keep and is not included in the sale.

A penny won't buy me lunch at Wendy's. A buck will.

ETA: I'll give you a shiny new penny for every grungy old buck you've got.

I'd make any reasonable attempt to return the money to the owner.

IF there is no info avail (No one around, no names or contact info) , finders keepers, no matter the amount.

I found $20 bill on the street/sidewalk on three separate occassions.  Some people just can't hold onto their money.

My wife, son and I was at the supermarket and as my son and I got bored I told him lets go for a walk.

We went to the edge of the parking lot and my son asked what I was doing I told him to look for money in the grass. He looked at me strange but I just kept looking.

He started looking after I found a one then a ten. A few minutes later he found a ten. Now he will check parking lots when we are out shopping.

I have found hundreds over the years doing that.
