I'm running Fedora 8 at home and have gotten Guitar Player 5 for Windows to run in WINE as follows: - install TIMIDITY++ and sound packages - start timitidy in a cmd window: - timidity -iA - open cmd window and navigate to GPro directory - wine GP5.exe - configure GPro to use the TIMDITY MIDI settings NOTE: the WINE Install will create a desktop icon, but this will NOT work -- it must be started from the command line as above (not sure why yet). TuxGuitar is an OpenSource (and free) alternative that seems to work similarly. It uses Java under the cover and you must use the Sun JVM (not IcedTea). |
