Scientific evidence available to
us within the last 100 years that was not available during Galileo's
confrontation shows that the Church's position on the immobility of the Earth is
not only scientifically supportable, but it is the most stable model of the
universe and the one which best answers all the evidence we see in the cosmos.

Idiots like this give Christianity a bad name.

This is right up there with Ken Hamm (sic) and Answers in Genisis crap. These folks are nuts or very smart and making lots of money off of other nuts.

I know several young Earthers. Their lunacy and lack of logical reasoning never ceases to be entertaining to me. One of my favorite examples is when I asked for an explanation for us being able to see stars which are billions of light years away (meaning that the light reaching us now is billions of years old). The first explanation was that light used to travel faster....(whole lot of stuff wrong with that theory). Next explanation was that the universe was already created "done" so that Adam could see the stars.... Problem with that theory is the the stream of light that God created would have all the incidents that we see occur....so God would be intentionally fooling us into believing the universe was old.

I got tired of trying to discuss it with them. It got to feeling like I'm picking on a retard.

The real problem with that theory (the one where God created the universe with light already on the way to Earth) is that it implies that God created the universe with a natural history and God is perfect.

If that’s the case, and it may be the case for all we know, then it would be impossible for humans to tell the difference. And, it would seem to me that the natural history God created for the universe would be a legitimate area for study. In fact, from our point of view, we might as well say the natural history is real since it was perfectly created by God.

So, what are they arguing about?

So you are saying that God intentionally and decietfully created the universe to appear billions of years old and then produce a book that tells us (some of us, anyway) that it is infact, 6000 years old??

Some say he did it to test our faith...like putting dinosaur bones here to test us...or creating the big snakes with reminants of leg bones to make it appear that evolution is true or possible...just to test us.

I can't really argue with that mindset/logic.

Interesting side not eis that there is a park in Texas that somewhere has dinosaur tracks (actually there are several with tracks). Incidently, this specific park has tracks that have human foot prints in the middle of the dinosaur footprint. As if the human was stepping in the foot print, liken to following the dino that left the tracks.

It's a much more complicated model to explain, but it all depends on which perspective you choose as a constant. If you want earth to be an immovable center, it can be - It's just that the model for everything else moving becomes immensely complicated.

ETA: Not endorsing or defending the link, just saying real physics can go either way.

My BIL is a young Earther. I handed him my wrist watch and told him"Here go put this on God's wrist, you got some balls telling God what time it is".

Good grief.  If your talking about the Paluxy River tracks, they've been long proven as horse-hockey.
