You should try to get all portions of the photo properly exposed to get a good HDR. In your case, you need at least 1 for the sky and 1 for the trees. You have the sky down good, but your trees are not properly exposed. I believe thats why your photo is a bit washed out. |

I am trying, getting better, but I have a panasonic fz8, not the greatest, only has a -1to +1 exposure bracketing. |

The trees should be perfectly exposed in one of your shots and the sky should be perfectly exposed in the other. These HDR programs use this to determine how to blend the images, thus if don't get each section exposed properly, they usually don't come out the best. |
