An SSBI take a while even if you have had a secret (which is obtained with a NACLAC, which really is not all that thorough), an SSBI PR (periodic re-eval) takes less time, but my last one took about 3 months. |

If you're talking about a "Q" I think it'll run 4-6 months. That really is more used in a few specific agency and equates to a TS-SCI and or CNWDI RD-ND for DoD. The DoD actually has the strictest adjudication criteria for clearances and one of the reasons, DoD often doesn't accept non-DoD granted clearance levels. The Marine Corps ran into this problem a few years back when DoS was issuing TSs to Marine Security Guards that were not valid in DoD's eyes. |

I never got mine. About once a month, they would give me the paperwork to fill out. And I would shred the papers.
They wanted me to get my TS so the duty NCO would not have to get their ass out of bed and do EAM decrypts. So, I would have extra work, would get called in to cover for drunks who failed to show up, and the duty NCO could stay in bed. Fuck that.

As soon as the investigator has to start really digging for answers because you gave half-ass information, things slow down. I've seen Secrets come back in 2 months. it's kind of a crap shoot. |
| A few years ago, I applied for a TS. Within a week or so, they had already interviewed a few of my references. Within a couple weeks after that, I had an interim. Unfortunately, I don't remember how long after that before I had the actual clearance. I think it varies a lot depending no need, application, etc. |

I think the FBI still does DoJ investigations  DoD and DoE investigations are done mainly by USOPM, sometimes DSS. |
