Six months ago I got an iPad and have used that and my iPhone only since then.
I don't visit weird websites or open weird emails. Two days ago I got a weird email from a good friend of mine. I did not open it, called him and he said he did not send it. Yesterday I get around 15 emails at once, with multiple addresses in each one, that were "delivery denied" from me to what appeared to be every person I've emailed in the last five years. I did not send these emails. Mcafee has been trying to contact me for the last month to update a card number, that just expired, that I used for my subscription with them on my previous laptop that I I haven't opened in six months. I'm not going to renew it. Is there a way to check my iPad for a virus? Do you think Mcafee is doing things to scare me into renewing my membership? |

Another thing that frequently happens is that someone you know gets a computer virus. Then it goes through their address book and uses all of those addresses as the "from" address in their spam. Then when another system blocks that message you get the "this message came from you" replies.
I have not heard of any ipad viruses in the wild. Assuming you have not jail broken your device I doubt you are infected. |

Change your email password Ditto, Same thing happened to me last month. What happens is, somehow your password was cracked, and then your address book was used to spam the people on the list. A new password makes everything OK. Just curious OP - are you using Yahoo email? A while back they (Yahoo) website got hacked and the same thing happened to a LOT of people.. I had it happen to me.. If you have yahoo you can log in to the email and somewhere there is a link to show all the logins.. Someone in India logged into my acct and then sent out emails under my name.. It also happened to a bunch of ppl i know, but I didnt have them as contacts - so they got hacked as well brian |

I do have yahoo email.
I tried to log into yahoo to change my password and it's saying that I'm using the wrong I.D. or password and won't let me log in to yahoo. I know I'm using the right password. It won't even let me get my "secret question". It said to come back it 24 hours and it would let me have it. |

Quoted: Now it's sending the "change password" request email to everyone in my email list. What the hell! What kicks do these mouth breathers get from screwing with other people's computers. Go into the settings and change who it notifies when you change your password. |

I'm pretty sure it was my Comcast account since after a while they blocked my account and called me about resetting my password. I was in the hospital for about 10 days when this was all going on, and it could have been scanned there since I was using the public WiFi network there. I had surgery and was heavily medicated and didn't really know or care what was going on at the time. |
