| Ok, I posted this in the tech warriors area but I think the GD might be viewed more. I caved an bought an iPhone...yea I know, wing the insults my way. However, I wanted to know what applications were useful and if anyone has the bolt face logo for a wallpaper on the iPhone. Any other tips other then breaking the phone would be appreciated. |
| A few I really like are the Remote App for your iTunes server (if you have one), the AIM client and Zenbe Lists. The last one is nice because you can set up a list on their website and then have it sync to the phone. Once it is set up then any changes you make from either the phone or your computer are synced. |

My fav apps,
iCopter, fun addicting game and the best app to date is shazam...it so bad A$$ it tells you what song is playing on the radio. Works great iPhone is the best phone I have had, I have dropped it so many times and its still working. I have the OG and its a work horse |
|
Get a BFL sticker and put it on the back, that's what I did. My wallpaper is a Gadsden flag.
TONS of apps out there... the eBay app is great if you're watching/bidding on stuff, or selling stuff. Take Me To My Car is good, you can set a point using GPS, and it will guide you back to it. Doesn't have to be your car. I wouldn't mind a nice white BFL on a black background in the correct res for the iPhone. Would look pretty sweet! |

fuck AT&T and apple. They can keep their god damn I phones. Just because I broke two of the 3G I phones AT&T wont sell me another one. They won't let you BUY another? I broke one and bought a replacement; they didn't seem to care? Is there something else about the situation that caused this? Sorry about the hijack. |

A common misconception of a jailbreak is that the only reason to jailbreak is to unlock the phone to use it on another provider. This is possible with the jailbreak, but not the only reason to do it. You can jailbreak your iPhone and keep it locked to ATT at the same time. There are many advantages to jailbreaking it though. these include:
Installing different themes, which often improve the UI of the iPhone greatly. I have a vista theme installed on mine and enjoy it more than the regular iphone theme Using your iPhone as a modem to access the internet If you're on the road, and don't have internet, how can you possibly surf arfcom? How can you stay up to date with the news of the world without viewing GD? Jailbreaking the iPhone allows you to install a program to tether your iPhone to your computer to use as a modem. Record video with your iPhone's camera This isn't important to some people, but others would really enjoy the ability to record video. The video recorded isn't video camera quality, obviously, but isn't the worst either. the iPhone can record video at up to 15 fps. BossPrefs BossPrefs is a program that controls all services on your iPhone. If you have an iPhone 3G, you have the choice of turning off 3g in this application. All options in this app are available by accessing the settings menu, but this application puts all of those services in one place. A list of these services listed in BossPrefs is as follows: 3G, Edge, WiFi, Bluetooth, SSH (I'll get to this in the next section) and a list of your email accounts which you can turn syncing off and on. SSH SSH is just like SFTP. With this installed on your iPhone, you can access the filesystem of your iPhone using your computer over a wifi network in which both of the devices are connected. You need to connect to your iPhone with a program that supports SFTP/SSH. The real advantage of using SSH is if you have video you have recorded with a 3rd part video application that you want to put on your desktop. The program I use for video recording is calledl Cycorder. If you end up wanting to use SSH, IM me. Lockdown This is one of my favorite 3rd party apps. Lockdown enables you to lock certain applications with a numerical password. I like this because it enables me to leave the iphone without a passkey lock, while still keeping people out of applications I don't want them in. For instance, I can choose to lock the SMS, Camera, and Photos app while still leaving the rest of the phone open, not requiring a passkey to be accessed. The way this app works is when you open it up, there's a list of applications you can lock. You add the application to the lock list and then select your passkey. Very convenient. |

Unlocking takes a little bit more effort and time. I have no interest in an unlock, so I'm not sure what's involved. |

My favorite apps: 1. Remote for itunes: Remotely control itunes w/ your iphone. 2. Easywriter: Allows you to type e-mails in landscape format. 3. Pac Man, or Ms. Pac Man: It's fun. 4. Bolt face wallpaper: Copy a bolt face logo from the web onto your computer, and transfer it to your iphone. Instant bolt face wallpaper. Another way is to view any picture or screen on your iPhone and then just take a picture of the screen with your iPhone. It saves it directly into your iPhone photo library. Then you can choose to make it a wallpaper from there. To take a photo of a screen image, simply press the power button on the top right, and the home button at the same time. It takes a picture of the current screen. |

SureFire shot timer App Pretty cool, though I havn't figured out how to get it to accurately record my times while getting down on the AR. Normally gets the first shot though. Free last time I looked.
I-Snipe Ballistics Calculator I havn't used it, but its on my short list unless someone comes out with one for less than the $5 cost it currently runs at. Jelly-Car game Ok, so its not a BFL, but it still rocks! I got lots more on mine, but these are the coolest I can think of at the moment. Tex78 |
