Am I the only one that has this problem:
I plug my iPhone into an outlet using the USB cord and the A/C adapter and it doesn't do anything. Actually I sometimes have the same problem when I plug it into my laptop too. It's pretty hit or miss. I thought I read somewhere that this is a somewhat common issue. I'm using the USB cords that came with my iPhone and iPod. Is there a way to fix this? |

Had the same problem with mine. Cable was bad. I'm using the one from my first gen iPhone. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile I've used two different cables, but with the same problem. It could be the A/C adapter but I have the same problem when I plug it into my PC. |

I save the USB cords that came with the iPhone for syncing only.
Charging gets done with the cheapo ones from monoprice. ETA: if the problem persists with multiple cables, try hitting the cord port with some compressed air. I know mine gets gunked up from sitting in my pocket all the time (I don't use a case). Also, if you're using a laptop, you may not be getting enough juice to charge. Problem even for desktop PCs. The front USB ports aren't really powered. My 40gb iPod won't sync when the cord is plugged into the front of my PC, but will when I plug it in to the rear USB ports. |

Take a close look at the connectors on the phone. Even a little piece of lint or debris can get caught in the contacts and prevent a good connection.
I had the same problem, and on close inspection found a tiny wood shaving in there after an afternoon of using a chain saw. |
