Had my phone for about 4 months now and started to have people tell me that my voice mail box was full. I listen to them on the iPhone and then delete after. Well what I didn't know was that deleted messages are saved. To permanently delete them you must push and hold down the 1 key on the keypad. This will log you into your voice mail account. After pushing the 7 about 150 times I got it all cleaned out. What a PIA!

Something isn't right with your setup.
On the iphone visual voicemail the first time you delete them, they go into a "deleted items" folder.

Which you can then view, and within can see voicemails.  From there you have the choice to permanently delete, or to restore.
It sounds as if you never permanently deleted.

uh, the last entry on your list of messages says "Deleted Messages"

Tap that, then tap the red button marked Clear All...

Something is wrong with your setup.

On an iPhone, you should NOT have to dial into anything.  However, yes, I'm sure the Visual Voicemail could fill up on your phone.

A friend who still has an iPhone had problems with his voicemail.  AT&T fucked something up on his account, which effectively disabled Visual Voicemail on his phone.

Did your friend install the tethering hack?
