Ok hopefully I posted the subject line in a way that I wont get in trouble for this as I have been in trouble on this site several times and am trying to abide best I know how.  I personally dont think the image is offensive but you never know who will.  So here we go.  The picture is of a squirrel I took with Black Hills 69gn Matchking HP.  Distance was prolly 20 feet.  I was recovering from a left shoulder surgery 2weeks prior and I had to get out of the house...it was raining and 40 degrees outside.  I was having a hard time folowing the squirrel with a gimp shoulder through the Eotech.  And I also wasn't aware of POI change so much at very close range but I was having a hard time trying to hit the little bastard...needless to say he wasn't sitting still and waiting either.  14 rds later and he was mine...I can admit it took some time before I figured out why I was missing him...overshooting him actually...that and honestly he didnt make for a large target.  But hell I had a blast anyway

Rifle...

Dpms lower with Magpul Moe and Moe trigger guard
Buttstock  VLTOR E-mod...I gotta just say this...the E-Mod was worth every penny and I love the better cheekweld...
P-Mags rock...but you all know this..
Eotech is pretty cool and performed flawlessly even with rain on the glass...but maybe not suited for skwerrelz?
CMMG upper but it's marked DPMS...  16' barrel, 1/7 twist m4 profile C/L and with m4 feedramps cal 5.56...something you don't see every day...but it has worked flawless for me... YHM BUIS and Smith Vortex... forward handguard is Surefire, not the best but does work for now even though I plan to replace it as I am not happy with the fact it doesnt alighn with the flat on the upper.

Without more worthless text here are the guts I promised LOL

Thanks,
Wes

edited for F14ADC:  this is your edit pal...I ain't changing this just because you are trolling and whining, you said the picture itself didnt offend you so go away...I didn't say how it would be edited but it is edited just for you no less.

hey I don't care if they bust my chops.  If they had paid more attention to what I said they would have noted I said I was having a hard time shooting because I just had shoulder surgery.  I really wasnt even supposed to be lifting anything with it at that time and only just two days prior had gotten out of the sling.  As I would hold up to shoot I was shaking pretty bad.   You cant see it in the picture but he was full of small splinters from the tree he was against when I shot him.  I don't know what kinda tree it is but wasn't gonna chance ingesting any of its bark or splinters.   Normally I do cook them and eat them.  I like them deep fried like chicken then after they are fried I then simmer them in brown gravy for a while to soften them up some.  I like mine served over rice with the gravy on top.  It's very good that way and whenever I can I try to get my grandmother to cook them.  She just makes better homemade gravy than I do.

I imagine most of the squirrel lovers here never had a squirrel problem before.  They have no idea what the little bastards are capable of destroying.  That one was in the swamp a few hundred yards below my house.  He will NEVER be able to get into my attic or any elses for that matter.  I normally hunt the little bastards with a 12 guage.  7 1/2 shot with a full choke works pretty good.  I just wanted to go hunting with my AR.  I certainly would NOT hunt deer with it, so I opted for something smaller.  Just my own personal thoughts on that.  And I certainly won't ever try using it as a squirrel rifle again either.  I knew what my backstop was before I shot at him.  I actually had to work my way around up onto the pond dam to get a safe shooting zone before I fired the first round.  When I did I was well above him basically shooting down into the mud.  The back side of the damn must go down 20 feet into the swamp bottom.  There is a small beaver pond down in there too.  Maybe I should shoot one of those beavers next time?  If I do I won't post any of it here.  Someone is sure to have a beaver fetish the same as they are squirrel lovers.  I wonder if that bullet had time to expand when it hit the squirrel or if it was the following shockwave behind the bullet that caused his damages.  I don't know but there was a lot of splinters from the tree all in him.  I dont know what caused that to happen either.

Anyway some people I am sure did get personal pleasure out of flaming me so it's all good.  If they are busting on me maybe it will save their wife or kids a few minutes of abuse.

And as far as it goes if I get the urge, and sometimes I do, I have no remorse about needlessly blasting tree rats straight to hell.  Cause thats what they are.  TREE RATS.  When I get a craving for some squirrel gravy its just that much better.  If you ever have one chew a hole into your attic vent and get inside you'll prolly end up hating them just like I do.  Enjoy and have a nice day.

It's never wise to post pictures of illegal activities on the Internet. You could loose the AR and face fines if the right people see this thread. You can call them treerats and blame them for all sorts of terrible things but the law is the law.

The picture of a dead squirrel doesn't offend me but your attitude toward life does.  Your  "just had to kill something" comment is meant to be flippant, but it shows your obvious disregard for life.  I know squirrels can be a nuisance, but you did not indiacate that this particular squirrel was doing anything  annoying.  You just "had to kill something".  This is why people distrust gun owners.  You may edit your post now but I suspect you won't.

Apparently ya can't use air-rifles in AL, but you can use a compound/longbow, or a friggin Slingshot?

My take is, it's his property, and if he ain't hurting anyone, then have all the fun ya want. I shoot frogs, in my lagoon with 22's all the time. I'm sure it's not legal, but they're frogs, in my pond.

Read the game laws in the link I provided.

It is illegal to use a centerfire for a reason that is obvious to those with a brain. You don't want to be shooting at things in trees with a centerfire rifle...see if you can figure out why that would be illegal in Alabama and most if not all other states.

To each his own. Especially on your own private property. But seriuosly agree or disagree what responses did you expect? It amazes me some of the things folks put on here and then get suprised when some one gets offended. I have killed well over 1000 prairie dogs in my time but would never think of posting the pictures. I also make damn sure of my state or the state I am hunting ins laws before i ever pull the trigger. Any attorney or judge will tell you ignorance of the law is not a pleading option. I too have the urge to kill game time and again we are men its what real men do so on that note I agree with Lord_Vulcanizer, Lighten up folks its just a tree rat.

It is technical...depiction of what an AR-15 can do to a squirrel...  it's just as technical as a picture of bulletholes in a picture of bulletholes on a sight in target that is absolutely meaningless to everyone but the shooter who put them there...but noone complains about that.

but it's OK OlCrow...  I am glad you are enjoying yourself shitting in my thread.  You keep posting here and the post count goes up and keeps the thread on top...  unknowingly of your own intelligence and superior mind of course but you yourself are a major contributor to this thread...

i've been at war with squirrels for years.  i try to kill at least 1 a day.  they're hell on bird houses and i hate the bastards.  i use my 10/22 though.  they must screw like rabbits cause i've killed a shit ton of 'em and they just keep coming back.  i should add that the meat is not wasted, the dogs take care of that.

Yea they been getting into my chicken feed lately and that really pisses me off.  I wont shoot around the chicken pen in fear of hitting a startled chicken...I just hate the bastards...unless they are in a steaming heap over a pile of white rice

It amazes me how destructive they are.  But if you've been getting them with a 10/22 you are doing a good job.  I dont have the patience to use a rifle most of the time.  Now with my shoulder like it is I dont know when I will be able to hold a rifle steady again.

Well, I know I will catch more hell from others but dude I wish you the best of luck in getting them all

Actually, Lord_Vulcanizer, I made no assumptions about your attitude that you had not already spelled out in your post.  If your actions please you then so be it but you seem a little to indignant for someone who believes they acted in a proper manner.  If you indeed have a pest problem then you acted accordingly, but you did not come across like that.  My apologies.

Ok, I have to ask. Why shoot a squirrel with a 5.56? Here it would be illegal but I could care less. I just don't get using a 5.56 round on a squirrel.

Nice shot.  14 rounds on a small moving target with a bum wing is not too bad.  Practice and a healthy arm will bring the shots per hits down to a more respecable level.  Myself, I like jackrabbits.  .22, shotgun, AR. Glock 21, its good practice all the way around.   Obviously, you did offend a few skirts, but pissing them off is almost as fun as a day at the range.

Dude it's not like I go around just killing things...  I assume you have an AR-15 and I promise I aint trying to be ugly but have you ever been even remotely curious about its capabilities?  I don't regard it as a deer rifle in any way...to me it's too small.  I knew without a doubt if I were able to hit any small target it would surely kill it.  So I decided to shoot a squirrel with it.  Now rethink a bit in this manner...if for some fucked up reason I was thrown into the wilderness with only that rifle and a rather limited supply of ammo to defend myself with and feed myself with I have no shadow of a doubt it would be useless for me to shoot squirrels with it for food.  Too much damage and too much wasted ammo––I aint that good of a shot against a small fast moving target with that rifle...simply stated.  I'd starve pretty fast and run outta bullets faster.  I couldn't believe the damage it did to the squirrel.  I shot a rabbit years ago with a mini-14 with a near similiar round...it was destroyed.  So rabbits and squirrels will be out.  You know I have shot all manner of targets with different rounds from that rifle just for experimental purposes.  A 55gn bullet will cut through a lawnmower blade like a hot knife through butter...my AK and 270 will only dent it...62gn greentip will go partway through a brake rotor too...

So what do I do then....I don't wanna ever have to bug-out or anything like that...but I would wanna know what myself and my weapon are capable of...squirrels are bottom of the list...I'd be better off with a stick and fishing line in that regards...maybe I carry a Ruger 10/22 with me?  Don't know...I was just sharing an experience and hoping maybe others could benefit from it without getting all technical with it.  This site used to be fun back in the olden days...  I remember when this one dude even had like little skits with barbie and ken dolls...that dude was a hoot...now anymore all the hell goes on is people trashing everybody elses setups and arguing over fuckin barrel twists and every little nuance of some bullshit law...

Anyway rant off...and no I hold no dislikes against you or most everyone else on this board.  And I surely aint judging anyone else just cause I may argue with them.  I saw a thread on here years back where a guy went bear hunting with his AR...he killed the thing too...nicely done...but I sure as hell wouldn't try it.  And I didn't bust his balls for doing it himself...that was his choice to make not mine.

Anyway...I didnt post for this to be arguing with you, we disagree about the squirrel and that cool...LOL I hope all you want of them will come and live in your attic

Because he could. Aint America great!!!! I would have prefered a .308 that way if the squirrel actually took to cover my penetration would be better from a tactical perspective.
