I am getting to the end of rippetoes effectiveness. I have been stalled on all my lifts for over a month, and am starting to get injuries, I think from doing the same excersises over and over. a lot of people have suggested Iron addicts simple power based routine www.ironaddicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8050 but it requires you to do several excersises that require the gym. I dont have the time or motivation to get to the gym 3 days a week. I have a bench, power rack, dip and pull up bar. any other good routines that jsut require these things, and yet can mix it up a little from rippetoes? any good alternatives to these excersises that I can do at home? | After SS, I moved to the Starr/Madcow 5x5. Did this found about 5 months. This coming week is recovery week, after which I'm doing a Texas-based routine. The 5x5 in the Starr/Madcow are ramping sets where there warmup is basically built in, so isn't as long of a workout as it sounds. Texas calls for 5x5 straight across on the volume day - I'm feeling sore already! Anyway, a consideration if time is a factor - Texas' Monday will likely require a decent chuck more time than even the Starr/Madcow Friday. When I was looking for Texas routines, the Texas vs. Starr as progression came up quite a bit, and several people (even perhaps Rippetoe) said SS->Texas->Starr is the better route, but it probably doesn't matter too much. |
