I have a 3g that looks as if it was shot out of a cannon. About 1/6th of the screen lcd is dead from a tear and the glass is the new "spiderweb" edition. My contract is up in December but I really dont want to upgrade to anything and extend my contract with AT&T.
My question is can I buy a 3g off of ebay and swap sims, being good to go? How about swapping with a 3gs? I've searched a bit and can't really find an answer. |

iFixit.com for parts and do it yourself. if you can maintain weaponry, you can definitely repair an iphone. step by step guides on the site also.

I'm confident I could do it just fine. I'd need a new LCD and glass ~200 bucks or so. I'm kinda cringing at the price of that to bring a 3g back to life (it is painfully slow) but after searching ebay.....short of upgrading (a new contract) its the cheapest option. |

Well I went into my local AT&T store and asked for an Iphone 4. They told me about a week or so. Great, I tell them, ring it up!
Them: We don't take cash. Me: Seriously? Them: Sorry, we don't take cash. Me: Ok, how about a debit card then, here you go. Them: You can only pay with a credit card. Me: Seriously? I don't use credit cards. I only buy shit I have the money for. Them: Sorry, credit cards only. Me: I 'm offering you three ways to pay..(checks are verboten as well) Have been a customer for two years with a perfect payment history and You won't take my money? Them: Well, yeah I guess unless you want to pay with a credit card. Me: Have a nice day, but I think I'll go with Verizon instead. Them: Fine! (Actually did say that kinda shitty to me too...) I now have 2 Droid X phones that will be here tomorrow with the total cost being only about 50 bucks more than purchasing ONE iphone 4. I've been an Apple fan for a very long time. I still think they are good to go with a lot of their product. It is truly unfortunate that they had to go with such a shitty provider. I'll never give AT&T another dime of my business. |

Shipping got fubar'ed so they won't be here until 7/30. I have already deleted itunes.....it was liberating. |

Droid X - 854 x 480 IPhone 4 - 960 x 640 The IPhone 4 has about 50% more pixels than the Droid X, and packs them into a smaller form factor. I'm not bashing the Droid by any means, but the IPhone 4 is a very good phone. It just sucks that it's locked into a shitty cell phone provider (ATT). |
