My daughters each have an ipod.  Oldest daughter, P, has had hers sync'd to my wife's computer (wife has an iphone), youngest daughter, C, has never had her ipod sync'd to my wife's computer.

C decides she wants some songs.  My wife creates a new library and calls it C's ipod.  She did this by holding down the shift key when she started itunes.

Stupid itunes sync'd C's ipod and replaced it with P's information.  All of it.  C's ipod has none of her stuff and all of P's.

Why did it do this?  (I know itunes sucks)

If C's has never been sync'd is there a way to restore?

How do we keep it from happening again?

What are the tricks to running multiple Apple products from the same PC?

Thanks

Me and my step daughter share a computer at home occasionally and the only easy way to keep our things separate is to have separate itunes account and have auto sync turned off in itunes preferences.

How did C get songs on her ipod in the first place?

The easiest is to have an account for each user/device on the computer.  Wife has a logon, C has a logon, P has a logon,,, etc.  This way itunes will store data for each user's device in the user's profile.

That is what caused the problem.  My wife was trying to put songs on her ipod.

It all turned out ok.  All of her games remembered her.  The only thing she lost was pictures of the dog and stuff she had taken.

My wife has all 3 accounts backed up on iTunes now.

Thanks
