| My fiance and I where planning on buying a fifth wheel to put on some property. The plan was to live in the fifth wheel while building our house (1-2years). The county says no can do, you can only live in the fifth wheel for 120 days then you have to apply for a builders permit. Then you have to go to the director to ask for an extension. IF HE DECIDES then we can live there longer in the fifth wheel, basically I own the land (which is in a rural area) but he can tell me what to do with it. I serious feel like my freedoms are being infringed. Do we live in FREE country for all???? or a free country for the wealthy??? I'm a little confused, what I joined the service for. Is this common is it just this county? |

Sounds like another result of the Great Northern Migration... BTW, my friend first built a shop on his 40 acres, then parked the 5th wheel inside of that. He and his wife and kid slept and cooked in the 5th wheel and used the shop as the living room/dining room. Kept them from getting too crowded. It took them about 2 years to finish their house and then he had a nice shop when done. |
+2. Get your permit. Work on your house. Don't tell them about the trailer, and jerk them around by moving it regularly. |
I thought of moving it regularly, but dammit you shouldn't have to! I'm stubborn enough but the fiance isn't. I will just have to wait longer.

I like this. The best part is you can put your furnishings from your current home into the shop and not in a storage unit. I'd also add a very small bathroom to the shop (basin, toilet, 4x4 shower stall) so you can clean up before going up to the house after working on a nasty, greasy project on a hot summer day. Your wife will love you for it. |
+2. And, the inspectors wouldnt be able to see the 5th wheel with the doors being closed in front of the shop. |
and the Katrina and Rita victims.
