The local sporting goods store has M91/30 rifles advertised for $69.99. It says they are in good condition. I haven't gotten over there to look at them yet. I'm just wondering if that's a decent price.

Is there anything in particular that I should look for on the rifle if I decide to purchase one? Markings? Receiver style?

I've never owned an old rifle before but I thought it might make a cool wall hanger. Anyone have any input?

Check the bore and if possible get one with a matching bolt.

They are more than just wall hangers. They are fun to shoot and can be quite accurate. Ammo is pretty cheap as well.

Yes, that is a good price. Get one before they are gone.

That's a good price.

Hex receivers and Tula Arsenal-marked guns (star symbol) typically fetch a higher premium for collectors. For a shooter, anything will do.

Mosins make great shooters and it's hard to just have one.

Get two!!

Great shooter and cheap ammo. But as already stated, check the bore. Some of the Mosins on the market have seen some serious use.

Have fun and enjoy that shoulder bruise! ( you'll see.)

Like others have said MN's are great fun.

A Tula is worth a bit more, but who really cares.

Check the bore, get some x54 and blast away.....Oh, and best be sure to put a recoil pad in place or by the 5 round, you won't want tp play anymore

The only thing that matters on a MN is the bore condition.
Everything else is secondary.
You can make them pretty with a little elbow grease.

Just got back from making my purchase. It looks like it's in decent shape. I just need some snow to melt away so I can get to the local rifle range.

Looks nice...what is the headstamp/tip color of the ammo you bought?

Ammo is stamped with a star on top, a 3 on the left, a 10 on the right, and a 52 on the bottom. Tip is not colored.

Sounds like Bulgarian light ball made in 1952.
Smooth shooting stuff - not like heavy ball.
