Meet Sheb Wooley.  He's 2 months old and weighs a mere 6 oz.

My sister rescued him from a farm where the owners were hoping he'd die.  My brother-in-law won't let her keep Sheb so my parents are taking 'im.  He went to the vet today and while they gave him stuff to clean up his eyes and ears, he's still too small to be given shots.  Hopefully he'll grow into his ears cause if he does he'll be a big healthy cat.

People that treat animals that way should be hung upside down and beaten with sticks

Eh, that's my sister's hand/ring...

 Wish I was married, though.

Glad you raised the little cat, it is a very rewarding experience.

As for his age, he is absolutely 2 months old which is why he's so precious.

Months? Holy balls i thought for sure you accidentally put that instead of weeks.

What a tiny little bastard

I found on like that at a rest area once, he was so small he fit in my shirt pocket. I was walking by the trash can and heard him meow, he was in a small box with a rubber band around it. I named him Micro-Kitty. We had to put him down last summer at the age of only 4 years when his kidneys and liver failed

RIP Mikey

Yeah, tough little guy, though.  He use to have to fight off the other farm cats for his food.

Its just a hand full!!!! I wish they would stay that small. Well, ok, maybe not that small. But still.

Best of luck to you and your little furball. I'm glad you're giving him a chance to grow into those big ears.

One of my cats, Sophie, was rescued from a barn down in Virginia as a very young kitten. When I first got her, she was the tiniest little furball. For the first month, I had to look inside my boots to make sure she wasn't sleeping inside them before I tried to put them on. She's a year old now, and has turned into a pretty cool cat.

Here she is helping out in the studio.

He doesn't look starved or anything.   He probably just would have been eaten by another critter eventually.

Can you post what the vet subscribed? (brand names or generics)

That kitten is at least, undernourished, dehydrated, and suffering from severe eye/upper respiratory infection.  You should make sure all three of those things are being addressed.

Also, DO NOT underestimate the benefits of a human torso, attention and warmth.  Cats will survive some of the most horrific injuries given nursing care and constant attention, take a day or two off and just be with the kitten and you can greatly increase it's survival chances and healing rate.

farms can get over run with barn cats and cats that people drop off, usually they are shot or killed in some manner rather than just allowing them to die.

Anyway cute little kittah

Orange Cats make excellent pets. We have two we picked up alongside the road. They are now 4 years old. They are the best pets we have ever had. They too started very small but grew quite nicely

Well, I'm sorry to say that Sheb didn't make it.

He'd been doing just fine up until several days ago.  Running, playing, sitting with our other cats.

He'd been having trouble going to the bathroom these last few days, nothing would come out. Vet tried to help him but there's nothing they could do.

He was so worn out and exhausted that he couldn't move. He was purring just before we put him to sleep .

At least he had a good last two weeks.

Poor baby Sheb...

As I type this I have a grey tiger kitten sleeping in my lap... He's now 9 weeks old, currently weighs all of 18 ounces and is on 3 different antibiotics for eye infections, pneumonia and a skin infection.  I found him in my yard 3 weeks ago today lying in a ball gasping for breath.  I immediately took him to my vet, she's the best with all my other cats.  Three weeks ago he weighed 8 ounces and the vet didn't hold out much hope due to his pneumonia and emaciated condition but we tried... now he's alert, active, and putting on weight.  He has another vet appointment this afternoon, hopefully we can start removing some of the antibiotics.  He still has trouble eating but the Hills A/D prescription food is really helping.  He's cost me over $200 so far and is worth every penny...

RIP Sheb Wooley, you will be missed...

Edited for spelling...

Sorry to hear it. Sometimes all you can do for them is make their last few days more comfortable.

At least he lived a few weeks better than any barn cat ever will.

My cat started out as a runt no bigger than him, maybe even smaller.  She would sit on your shoulder (like a pirate's parrot) and let you ferry her around.   (Holding on with her needle like claws)

She's still small, but she won't take shit from anyone, including dogs 20 times her size.

Wow, I teared up..  You loved him very much..  I'm sure he was happy..  He's better now..

You blessed that poor kitty with a life of luxury for what little time that it had on earth.

Go in peace knowing that you rescued it from a life (albeit short) of pain, starvation, fear, and misery.

Prayers inbound for you and yours.
