A lot of movies listed in this thread were certified block-busters, not at all 'obscure'.
I nominate "Class" -- Certainly not the best movie ever (just 29% on Rotten Tomatoes), but just good ol' 1983-themed fun. Rob Lowe (early in his career), Andrew McCarthy, Jacqueline Bisset. Class Official Trailer #1 - Cliff Robertson Movie (1983) HD |

Little story about this movie: I didn't see this in the 80s. We rented the VHS to watch in the dorms over a long holiday weekend. Everyone on the floor had left for the weekend, including her roommate, and the roommates in the other adjoining room (one of those setups, where 2 dorm rooms shared one bathroom in the middle, and each room had its own (lockable) door to the bathroom). So we're watching this movie with the lights off (of course), and I hear a sound from the bathroom (door was closed), and say, "Hey, I thought you said the gals in the other room were gone for the weekend?". She says, "Yeah, that's right. Why?" I reply, "I swear, I heard a noise from the bathroom", and immediately get swatted. "Stop it! You're just trying to scare me". I say, "No, really. I could've sworn I heard a sound coming from the bathroom...". Well, we don't hear anything as we're listening, so we go back to watching the movie. Just at the scene where the door slowly creaks open onscreen, the bathroom door sloooowly creaks open. As the gap widens, it's pitch freakin black in there. We're both staring at this bathroom door slowly creaking open, as the door onscreen slowly creaks open, like "W...T...F..." Kelly's head pops out of the darkness. "Hey, what'chall doin?". GF yells, "Jeezus CHRIST, Kelly! Why'd you open the bathroom door so slowly, and why'd you have bathroom the light off?!!!" With a smirk, Kelly goes, "Oh, I wasn't sure what y'all were doin, so I was trying to be careful not to disturb ya". Certainly made the movie even more memorable. |
