Bought my son an ar15 for his birthday-Christmas present. B-day is Dec. 8th. Bought 200 rounds of pmc from walmart, it was $40 per hundred back in mid october and even after nov. 4th, grand obahama day. Brass cased, boxer primed 55gr. fmj-bt., .223 rem..  Brass looks good, shoots well, fairly accurate. My question is this, has anyone used these cases for reloading. These boxes are marked Korean, and are black and gold. I've been reloading for about 7 years, but have never loaded for .223, although I have for 762x39 and still do for .308. What is the quality of this brass if you've had experience with it. I know there is better out there but at this price is affordable to me as I can only buy a couple of hundred at a time, and the small town local walmart seems to have plenty on hand, as well as the federal stuff but at a few bucks more. I would just buy the federal stuff if I didn't already have 200 rounds of this. Would it be better to start buying the federal, it is the xm193 at aboout $55 per 100? Thanks in advance.

I hope it's good. I have a fair amount saved. I'm sure it's fine though.

I have reloaded some. It is OK.  PMC originally stood for the Pongsan Metal Casting Company.  They have been around for ever as an arsenal in Pongsan Korea.

I have reloaded 7.62 x 51 PMC brass many times and never had a problem with it.

In the past, Federal has reportedly given only one or two reloads. I don't see much of it, so I can't vouch for current production. The reloading forum would be a good source of current Federal quality (for reloading) if you go that route.

Thanks for the info. It does indeed say Poongsan corp. on the back. As for the federal, the gold medal match brass is very soft and although I used it for my m1a, and FAL,  and continue to do so with my LR 308, it seems that I won't get as many loadings from it as I do win, rem., etc. THe extractor on the m1a and FAL seemed to cause an imprint on the head on it, but not on the other brass that I've used.

Been loading a bunch of .223 Rem and in using the Dillon primer pocket swager you really get a feel for how hard or soft the different cases are.  Federal is soft, Winchester is hard.....the PMC stuff I had mixed in was not crimped, but the primer hole had virtually no bevel to it and I swaged it just to be sure they primed up ok......they were very hard and seemed to have a thicker web than any of the other cases swaged.....I had to back the swager off to get the PMC cases to fit in it to swage them.

Just before I got rid of my Hi Point 9mm, I put a couple boxes of PMC Bronze through it...best 9mm ammo I ever shot! Was clean and accurate! I still had a box left when I sold the HP...gave it to my dad for his XD9....

I reload a lot of PMC brass.  Never had a problem specific to that brass in 10000+ rounds.

I've got a few PMC .223 cases on their 4th reload and they're working fine.

MUCH, MUCH better than Federal .223 brass which the suck.

Like anything else, if you're loading 26gr of H335 w/ a 55gr FMJBT, don't expect long life.

My plinking load is between 23.5gr and 24.0gr of H335 w/ a CCI 41 primer, Hornady 55gr FMJBT, crimped to cannelure.

brass'll probably last even longer if you skip the crimp.  i've never crimped a .223 and no problems.
