hey guys... I'd like to ask those of you who are religious to say a prayer for me. i've been suffering from severe back pain for two years ... one surgery two years ago, and will eventually have to go back for a fusion of the lumbar spine... thing is I have 6 more months at work till I'm there a year, which is needed to be protected under federal law, they don't know a thing because I want to keep it quiet. anyway, these last couple of weeks have been really bad . the doc says I  can wait for surgery becasue he doesn't see nerve damage but I'm in so much pain, my back is absolutly killing me, my legs and feet hurt... and it is getting hard to make it through the day. i'm only 29 and feel like I'm going down hill... and I'm afraid that I may have to deal with this for the rest of my life. I'm praying that God may heal me.. been doing so for a long time. I believe he can help, but I'm begining to doubt... If you pray, I ask that you say one for me... thanks a million...
John

Prayers sent,, May be a stupid question but have you tried and physical therapy? I have had back problems before but not as bad as yours. Its has always seemed to help. It may be worth a try.

Yes, I've tried everything. I even tried steriod shots, prolotherapy, and accupuncture. Prolotherapy is when they inject "sugar-water" into the ligaments around the vertebrea, can be used on other areas such as knees, to cause the body to inflame the ligament and cause it to become thicker and stronger as it heals. It didn't work for me...   I smoke and am about 25lbs over weight. The accupuncture doc thinks that may help to fix those two issues first, I'm trying.

Thanks for all of your prayes.

DOn't Loose faith
My mother suffered 25 years with an 8 inch Harrington rod fused to her lower spine. She also developed degenerative spine disease. No meds took away the pain 100% but she lived a somewhat normal life. Listen to the DR. Do alot of research on your own. Neew methods of treatment are being developed each Day.
Keep your chin up and keep the faith

Prayers sent for you JB. & FWIW, the 25 pounds and the smoking would be two good things you can lose for yourself. I've been there/done that. Take my word for it. Other than the $, I can't see a downside to becoming a rangemaster. Good luck, too.  Stay safe

I've been feeling a little better today. I'm actually going to go out tommorrow to try some skeet shooting with my buddy. I wonder if that will be okay with my back. Thanks for all the prayers guys, you don't know how much I appreciate it. All the kind responses make me feel a lot better. I know that God has a plan for me and I have faith that eventually I will over come this. Thanks again.

I began to lose faith after all of this, but am wondering if this is actually a test of my faith. I haven't been one to go to church very much but am starting to think that maybe it's time for me to go back. Even though I haven't gone in a while, I still pray every day and try and do right by everyone in my life...

JB, Satan sure wants to claim us back into his "fold".  Lord knows I have had my share of trials, and have had my faith tested so many times it isn't funny.  But keep your eyes on the Lord and just remember, no matter how much pain you endure here, in heaven you will have a perfect body, no aches or pains!!!

Done.

Hoepfully, between prayer and modern medicine, your pain will soon just be an unpleasant memory!

It may be indeed.  But God will graciously help you even with this:

Mark 9:24  And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

I pray that God will give you faith.

I haven't been one to go to church very much but am starting to think that maybe it's time for me to go back. Even though I haven't gone in a while, I still pray every day and try and do right by everyone in my life...

No doubt about it, Jesus wants you to attend church with other believers.

Hebrews 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I will be sure to remember you in prayer.

God answers prayer.

I've been feeling pretty good today. Thanks to all that remebered me in their prayes. I'm a little sore today from my first experience skeet shooting, but it is a good soreness... I'm happy that I'm still able to get out on the weekend and enjoy this sport, it really helps me relax. Thanks everyone...

One question though, and I've yet to figure this out... If God loves us all then why are we faced with all of these things in our lives that cause us pain... I see all these people out there that are really not good people at all yet they seem to have no problems

Sorry for the slow response, but I was asleep.

You are certainly not the first person to ask this question.  My friend Sgtar15 also suffers from terrible back problems and struggles with this question.

In fact, in the OT, Jeremiah asked the same thing a few thousand years ago:

Jeremiah 12:1  Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

There is no sin in questioning God about our problems, as long as we do it respectfully.

Even Paul, the greatest Christian that ever lived, ask about this and prayed for relief.  He suffered some physical problem and asked God to heal him.

2 Corinthians 12:7  And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

8  For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

9  And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Paul realized that his relationship with the Risen Savior was more important than any physical suffering.  Paul was determined to praise God through any problem.

I will pray for your relief.  But if God requires this of you, then I will pray for His strength to see you through it.

Prayers sent.  I, too, live with back pain and am trying to delay surgery as long as possible in the hope that some new procedure would be more beneficial.  Of course, I have prayed that God will heal my back as well.  I am reminded of the story in the book of Daniel where Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are about to be thrown in the furnace if they won't worship other gods and they say that they believe God will deliver them from the flames but would not worship any other god no matter what happened.  My point is, I hope God heals my back (and yours and Sarge's) but if it doesn't happen, I will continue to love and serve him.  I try to live in a state of gratitude for all of the blessings I have received.  May you be well, happy, and at peace.

Prayers inbound - try not to focus on the negative, keep your focus on the positive.  When I was in labor with my kids I truly found the slow breathing exercises they taught bennifical.  Now when I have pain [granted not as bad as labor or what you're going through] I still use those slow breathing exercises and it helps.  I've passed kidney stones with out meds, lived with a bone spur for a year, lived through having my bone spur ruptured with out meds and had a pretty nasty tooth ache once.  I just focus my attenion on something other than the pain and breath slowly through it.  I find that the once I focus the intense pain only lasts a few seconds.

Best wishes,  Patty
