Seems like a lot of talk on linux & BSD & it got me thinking about uptime. Thread is in no way geared towards seeing which is "better" Curious on everyones server uptimes. Here is the uptime on the server I happen to be on right now. lobster@TS-DEV-SERV-HSTN02: ~ $> uptime 17:43:08 up 229 days, 19:01, 5 users, load average: 0.00, 0.10, 0.48 |

Had a spac solaris box that was up for a few years before being moved.
Longest I've had a server up is just over a year even at small business' offices. Generally they will get shut down for one reason or another. Realized a client we don't normally deal with had their windows 2008 server with an uptime of close to a year. Normally for the windows server we patch and update them long before it comes to that. |
[root@ ~]# uptime This machine is used as a router/firewall, and it was shut down when we had to do some work on the electrical circuits. Few of my machines that do real work have uptimes past about two years, because they've all been replaced with beefier hardware since then. |
